*****James' POV*****

"Brooke? Brooke?! No, stop! Come back!" I shouted through the phone even though I knew it had went dead.

"Where is she?" Kendall asked running in.

"I don't know. The line went dead. She said she could escape, but I'm not sure if she did or not."

"Even if she does escape, she doesn't know where she's at. She'll never get home."

"That's what I'm worried about."

"How did she sound?" Ali asked, walking through the white wooden doors.

"Confused, but confident. Scared, but brave. Flat out beautiful." I said staring ahead at the black and white pictures on the wall.

"I miss her." I whispered not stopping my gaze at the pictures.

"We all do. She'll be okay." Kendall assured me.

"Kendall, I can show you and the other two the guest room." Ali said as her and Kendall walked up the stairs with Carlos and Logan. I sat down on the window seat and stared out the window. It was dark. No stars. No moon. Just dark emptiness.

"I'll find you baby girl. I'm going to find you." I whispered, as if she could hear me. I knew she couldn't, but I almost hoped she'd come through the doors and laugh at me talking to myself. She didn't. The door remained closed. The streets remained empty. All lights had went off in the house. I sat in darkness and traced my ring with my thumb. I eventually got up and went to the dark, empty room. A few candles were lit when I walked in. Ali's house was always overly fancy. I sat on the edge of the bed and watched as the minutes slowly ticked by. I had so many thoughts swirling through my mind I felt as if my feet were going to sink straight through the floor like quick sand. I silently laid back on the bed and combed my fingers through my hair. Slowly I flashed back.

•Flashback•

"Why so quiet?" I asked as Brooke and I lay in bed a week before our wedding.

"I'm uh..just thinking." She said softly. Her eyes were focused strongly on the ceiling. I sat up on my side resting my elbow on the bed. I looked at her and rose my eyebrows.

"Tell me." I whispered as I used my other hand to brush a strand of hair away from her eyes.

"I'm just..ya know..the wedding."

"Come on..Brooke." I placed my hand on her shoulder and slowly ran it down her arm. I felt her body tense up like it always did.

"Hunny, you're gonna look beautiful. Everything's going to go fine, I promise." I said smiling at her. Now that I look back I know I shouldn't have promised that.

"Don't promise something you don't know if you can keep or not." She said quietly. "Lots of people break promises."

"Lots of people never learn how to make a promise in the first place."

She scooted over closer to me and I felt her skinny, cold fingers land on my bare back. Her arms were laced around me with her head on my chest. I leaned back far enough to capture her face in my hands. I smushed her cheeks together and watched her smile. I carefully allotted my lips on hers. She laughed and pushed away laying her head back on her pillow.

•End of flashback•

Oh how I miss that laugh. That sweet and happy laugh that filled the room like the warm air on the first day of summer. I couldn't help but smile at the memory. The memory quickly faded out though as did my smile.

*****Brooke's POV*****

I couldn't have been anymore lost. I had been able to get myself out of the woods, but there was nothing but road. There were no houses, buildings, cars, anything at all! I was walking around at God knows what time down a road that could lead to death. I kept expecting a Troy to show up in a car or throw a knife at my leg, but it never came. I counted the time in my head and it had been at least an hour and a half. If he hasn't found me by now; he won't find me. I needed sleep. I wanted sleep. I also needed food and water. I couldn't stop now though. There was no way I was going to crawl in a ditch and sleep. Though it'd be better than with Troy; I still wasn't doing it. With that I continued walking. Sooner or later someone had to come along. All I needed were directions. Just to know what state I'm in. Right now I'm not even sure if I'm still on earth. How much longer could I do this? I could feel my legs get weaker and my stomach crave for the food I didn't have. My throat was so dry it felt like sand paper. All I need is sunlight. Sunlight will give me the slightest bit of a charge to my phone and some light to freaking see! If I can get on my phone for the 5% it gives me, I can check my GPS and then quickly call James. For all I knew it could be 11 at night or 5 in the morning. To be honest, I don't even remember what light looked like. I'd been trapped in a room for a week. Darkness does something to people. I had to find someplace to rest, just until morning. I found the nearest tree and sat down. Out of everything I've been through, this is the most scared I've ever been. Maybe because I thought it was over? I'd stopped preparing myself for the worst. Or maybe because I had a husband that I wanted to actually be with right now. Instead I was sitting by an a oak tree located in a place I didn't know.

*****Narrators POV*****

"I told you both to keep an eye on her! And what do you do? Everything but that!" Troy yelled fiercely as Vanessa and Mark stood against the wall. "I can't do this all on my own!"

"What are you talking about you self absorbed jackass? All you did was kidnap her and squirt that stupid serum in her!" Vanessa laughed while placing her hands on her hips. As she talked she flipped her hair to her shoulder. "We all know where she's going! She's going to find James! Don't be so stupid!"

"I'd watch your mouth, this is about the only job your unworthy loudmouth face is gonna get you!"

"I'd watch your mouth before it gets a taste of it's own discriminatory medicine!"

While both Vanessa and Troy bickered back and forth, Mark sat annoyed at the back of the room. Vanessa turned sharply to Mark and yanked him up by the collar of his shirt.

"And you!" She spat. "Expecting her to give herself out to you! She isn't a stripper! And if you've forgotten, you have a wife!"

"Oh shut up, Vanessa! Stop playing the innocent act! Everyone knows you've slept with Troy before!" Mark announced it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which, clearly, it was.

"And surprisingly he knows what he's doing!" Vanessa took no time to reply back to marks "unreasonable" outburst.

"Enough!" Troy said loud enough to cause the pictures on the wall to shake. "Vanessa, I've done you a good deal."

"Obviously." Mark snickered under his breath.

"Shut up you little pig!" Vanessa screamed pushing him back.

"Enough!!" Troy shouted again. "I have been reasonable enough to not put you in the kitchen, Vanessa. And not treat you like a maid to this house..but if I have to I will!"

"Out of all people..me?!" Vanessa asked with sympathy.

"Out of all people..the girl you screwed behind my back?" Mark mocked.

"If you don't shut your never ending alcohol shoot, I'm going to tie you to the railroad tracks!" Vanessa turned on her heals making her point very understood.

"We all know the consequences." Troy spoke up. "No more arguing, leave."

And with that, the room was cleared

•Ello . I'm tired and should probably sleep considering I have ECA's tomorrow, but we all know I won't fall asleep. :P how's your weekend been? How many days of school do you have left? (if you're still in it) I have about 18.(: #happyhappy
