Hundreds of tests had been run and plenty of money had been spent trying to keep Gabby here. It had been 3 months and that girl had hung on for dear life.
Today was, finally, Logan and Octavia's wedding. I was in my maternity, light yellow dress standing on stage listening to Logan and Octavia's vowels. From the other side, stood James, staring at me.
"You okay?" He mouthed, moving his eyes down to my stomach.
I nodded and let out a silent chuckle. The priest began going through his list of wedding routines. After what seemed like forever he finally said his all time famous words: "You may now kiss the bride."
We all clapped and cheered as Logan's lips met Octavia's. They smiled and made their way down the isle. James made his way across to me and laid his hand on my stomach.
"We've come a long way." He said, smiling his bright smile.
"We have." I replied, flinging my arms around his neck and crashing my lips to his.
"I love when you do that." He mumbled, against my lips.
"I still remember the first time you kissed me." I leaned back and smiled up at him. "I fell so hard in love with you."
"I fell too hard in love with you."
He placed a long, loving kiss on my forehead before he took my hand and we went to socialize with the other guests.
"So when are you due?" Octavia's mother asked.
"6 months." I replied with a smile.
"So she'll be born sometime in March."
"Correct."
Throughout the night, conversation carried on until about midnight when James and I both agreed to head home.
"Have you been thinking about names?" James asked as we drove home.
"I don't know. A little, I suppose. You?"
"A little. There's been so much to think about."
"A lot."

Late summer turned to fall which soon turned to winter. I was 6 months pregnant with 3 to go. Gabriella had been recovering since late October. She went in once a week to check up and confirm that no more cancer was coming back. Since November James had been remodeling the babies room. (Which we decided to make a surprise on what gender it was.) Gabby was very excited to hear about her new brother or sister. It was a week before Christmas and James and I were cuddled together on the couch. It was about 1 a.m and Gabby had been in bed awhile. "Elf" was in the DVD player. James peacefully rubbed his hand along my stomach while my head rested on his shoulder.
"I love when there's a kick." He whispered, tensing up and smiling.
I looked over at him and smiled as he continued watching the movie. I eventually fell asleep on his shoulder. Normally James would've carried me up to bed, but he insisted it was rough on the baby. So he remained on the couch with me the whole night, his hand still resting on my stomach.
As morning rolled around and a small patch of sunlight broke through, I heard Gabby come down the stairs and begin talking to herself in the play room. I smiled as I listened to her little voice.
"So far daddy has never hurt mommy the way that one man did." I heard her say, "He always made her work. And he hit her a lot. Daddy has never hit mommy."
I felt James' hand go to mine and squeeze it tight. He was obviously awake and listening. I turned my head slightly and looked up at him.
"I'll never hurt you." He mouthed towards me.
"I know you won't." I mouthed back.
He let his lips glide to mine softly and quickly before he carefully got up from the couch. I saw him go to the play room and disappear into the room. Soon after I heard Gabby giggling and talking along with him. After a couple minutes she ran out and hopped on the couch beside me. She looked at me and smiled a toothy grin before hopping down and running away again. James stepped out and I mouthed a confused "what was that?"
"I told her a secret." He said, helping me from the couch.
"And what was that?" I replied, raising an eyebrow at him.
"It's a secret."
"You aren't supposed to hide things from your spouse."
"I told her how much I loved you and how much we loved her and her new sibling."
The corner of my lips turned up and I laid my hand on the side of his cheek. I ran my thumb back and forth slowly, getting lost in his eyes like always.
"Not much of a secret, huh?" He questioned.
"Best secret ever revealed." I smiled.
He laid his lips with mine again before Gabby came out yelling, "Ewwy, ewwy, ewwy!"
