Ian's POV

I woke up next morning in the fort Mattie and I made last night.
"Yooooo!" She exclaimed. I chuckled at her and rubbed my eyes.
"Good morning." I said, my voice raspy.
"Whoa that's hot." She giggled. I looked at her confused.
"What?" I asked.
"Your voice." She smiled. We bursted out laughing.
Once we died down I got dressed.
"2 more days until Christmas." I smiled. She nodded and got dressed as well.
I wore gray jeans and a long sleeved shirt under my black jacket.
I put on a beanie not bothering to fix my bowl.
"You look good." Mattie smiled. "You look better." I smirked. She playfully slapped my arm and put her laptop back in her bag.
"What are we doing today?" She asked me.
"Let's roam around the city and go see some sites." I suggested.
She nodded and slipped on her north face jacket. She wore skinny jeans and a black jumper that had a fall out boy sign on it. She wore black vans and the slightest bit of makeup. "Let's go!" She exclaimed jumping into my arms. I quickly caught her almost falling on my ass. "Jesus!" I chuckled. She giggled and kissed me on the lips. I kissed back as I set her down. She smiled into the kiss making me smile. "Let's go." I nodded and intertwined her fingers with mine. We walked out of the hotel and into the elevator. Funky elevator music played and Mattie did a funny little dance. We stared at each for a while until we bursted out laughing. "You're amazing." I said in between laughs. "Nah you are." She said calming down a bit. "We're both amazing." I chuckled. She nodded and exited the elevator. I followed her as we began to walk around the city. "Shit I forgot my money." She said starting to walk back. "No my treat." I said stopping her. "I'll pay you back." She said starting to walk forwards now. "No it's okay." I said giving her a stern look. She sighed and smiled. "Okay." She said. We began walking around until we found a little museum with paintings in it. We walked around in there for a while laughing and joking around but still admiring the paintings. We stopped at one that really caught Mattie's eye though. It was a painting of a guy holding up a camera to an interesting view, it was of New York City trashed with pollution and stuff everywhere. She studied it for a while and I admired her thinking face, she looked beautiful, well she always does. "I just don't get it." She said finally speaking up. "What?" I said shaken from my thoughts. "This painting." She mumbled back. Her eyes were squinting at the painting, I could almost see the cogs and gears spinning in her brain. "It's a painting showing how the earth is getting trashed." I shrugged. She shook her head not removing her gaze from the painting. "There's more to it." She said. I looked at her and then at the painting confused, what else could there be? I studied it not getting anywhere. "It's a painting of how life is just like a camera, you stand there taking pictures and focusing on the bad things and not focusing on the good." She finally said after a while. I looked at her with wide eyes. How could she know that? "But how?" I asked trying to see what she was seeing. "You can see a beautiful sunset behind him in the screen but he has the camera pointed to the bad scenery, just focusing on that." She said. "Correct." A guy said from behind us making us both jump. "I'm glad someone finally understand my painting." He smiled. I raised an eyebrow at him while Mattie walked over towards him. "That's yours?" She smiled. He nodded and walked closer towards it, he resembles a British Steve jobs but younger. "Indeed it is." He said. "It's beautiful." She complimented. "Thank you, I'm glad you understand it." He said staring at the painting. "And what a beautiful message." She said staring at the painting. I just stood there not sure what to do. "Not most people get it, most people say it's a sign of people polluting the earth." He said smirking at me. I rolled my eyes. "I guess people are blind to the true meaning." She giggled. "Ah but you see only the few people who choose to see it the way you and I see it are the blind ones." He said finally turning around. "What?" She said confused. "We see life as a burden like it's some bad thing, we look at the bad instead of the good." He smiled. She still looked confused as he spoke again. "This young man here, he sees life through normal eyes, he thinks that New York City is just polluted, he never focused on the real problem like you and I, he sees things as temporarily bad but in the end he knows things will get better." The man said putting a hand on my shoulder. My eyes went wide. This guy was literally a Genius. "But how do I fix this?" She asked. "You don't just fix it, you have to try and fail." He said simply and walked away. She stood there amazed and confused and I put a hand on her shoulder. "Whoa." I said. She nodded and started to regain her surroundings. "We should go." She coughed. I nodded and intertwined her fingers with mine. We walked out into the cold England air. "We're going to have to leave for Italy in a few days." I said breaking the silence that filled the air. "Like tomorrow." I said. She looked at me with wide eyes. "We've only been here for a couple days!" She exclaimed. "I know but I have things planned." I said shoving my hands on my pockets. By the look on her face she instantly felt guilty for raising her voice at me. "I'm sorry I should just shut up." She sighed looking down at her feet. I was going to say something but she shook her head preventing me to speak. We walked in silence admiring the view. It soon began to snow and I smiled slightly. "Snow, really?" She frowned. I looked at her confused. "You don't like snow?" I asked her. "Well when you've lived with it your whole life it gets pretty annoying." She sighed. "But it is amazing." She said looking up. The snowflakes landed on her face making her cringe cutely. "Awh." I chuckled. She playfully pushed me and giggled. "Thank you for taking me here, I'm so thankful." She smiled looking me in the eyes. "Thank you for being with me." I said looking up at the snow. "Cheesy." She giggled. "I'm sorry, it's a habit." I smirked. She smiled cutely at me before lightly grabbing my wrist and pulling one of my hands out of my pocket. She then intertwined her fingers in mine and sighed happily. "Your hands are nice and warm." She said rubbing her thumb against my skin. "And your cold." I said moving her closer to me and putting my arm around her shoulder. She snuggled into me as we continued to walk to the hotel. Once we got there we entered and headed to the room. "Nice and warm in here." She smiled. I nodded and took of my coat and beanie. "Your hair." She said trying to stifle a laugh. I raised an eyebrow and looked in the mirror conveniently hanging up next to me on the wall. My hair was sticking up every which way and you could see my forehead a bit through my hair. "Damn." I mumbled trying to flatten it down. Mattie walked over towards me and grabbed my hand lightly stopping me from flattening it down. "No you look cute." She giggled. I looked at her and laughed. "Okay." I smiled. She walked me over to the bed and sat me down. She sat down next to me and put her head on my shoulder.

"I love you."

Mattie's POV

We walked out into the cool London air for the last time. "I loved it here." I sighed softly and looked over at Ian. He was staring at me, his eyes full of love. "I had an amazing time." He smiled. "Oh and Merry Christmas Eve." He chuckled. I giggled too and we walked into the airport. We were welcomed by the nice warm heat as we walked to our terminal. "Do we have to go?" I asked Ian. He looked at me like a father. "Yes but we are going somewhere else that is special." He said. I nodded and linked arms with him. "Don't worry you'll enjoy Paris." He smirked. I looked at him wide eyed. I didn't know we were heading to Paris! "No freaking way!" I said pecking Ian on the cheek. He smiled at me and gave me one of his signature Laughs. "I love that laugh." I giggled. He smiled at me as we reached the terminal. "I love that laugh too." He joked. I playfully pushed him as we waited for the lady to say we could board the plane. "All flights to Paris, Italy now boarding." I heard the lady say. Ian and I walked towards the lady and handed her our tickets. We boarded the plane and took our seats. Not a minute later I fell asleep snuggling up to Ian, we woke up early so I was fairly tired. By the time I woke up we were already in France.

"Welcome to France."
