Chapter 3

Nothing was the same anymore, the next day Dustin woke up with rage and all he can do is put it towards Elena. He just couldn't believe all the hard work he put in for the past six months was gone. He couldn't believe a girl ruined it for him. Mr. Crum gave back the phone to Dustin because he knows he needs it, but instead of the phone being turned in at 10pm it has to be turned at 9pm every night. The night he goes out with his friend will be cut short to 10pm instead of midnight. Dustin did not like it one bit, but he has to keep up with it in order to leave South Texas.

As Dustin phone rings when he is getting for the day it was Link who called, Dustin answered "Hey." "Hey, you awake?" "No I am here taking a shit. Of course I am awake. What do you want Link?" Link was shock with Dustin attitude, "Calm down, why are you so mad?" Dustin told Link how he felt and what has happen, and that he hated the fact that Elena already ruined his chances to go back to Nashville. Link gave him advice, "Look dude, it ain't Elena fault that you are in this mess. You should have self-control. You cannot put your anger towards her; you need to put it on yourself. You did this to yourself she didn't do anything."

Dustin agreed, so he decided to text her in the morning while he works with Mr.Crum. He acted like nothing was wrong, but Dustin could not help himself to talk dirty again to her. He loved the adrenaline and the sound of his own heat beat going faster than usual. Elena gave him the satisfaction so she can just get a text from him to make her day. This went on for about a month, but as they went on for a month in Dustin's mind the feelings he has towards Elena were not the same. To him she was just a friend with benefits type of thing through the phone, but with Elena's mind she was in love with him. Remember Elena never had a boyfriend, and does not know when a guy likes her back. So to her this was like "Is this what guys who like a girl want?" Elena just went for it. She would do anything for him.

April 23rd 2015, Dustin and Elena been talking for a good while and today was the day she will tell him how she feels, but when she went to confide in Sandy about this Sandy had news that will devastate Elena. But for the past month, Dustin and Elena have not seen each other since the day they met. "Today is the day I am going to tell Dustin how I feel about him." Elena smiled from ear to ear. Sandy gave her a look of bad news, and Elena didn't like it. "What is wrong Sandy?" "You are my best friend, and you know I will tell you anything even is it kills me to tell you. I love that you are happy, but there is something you should know." "What is it?" Elena gulped. "You know how Link and I broke up right, because he cheated. I still have access to his facebook and there is something you should see. Their message from him and Dustin and it's about you." Sandy handed the phone to Elena, and she read through the messages.

"Link: Yeah Sandy and I broke up. I regret cheating, but she always had a way of putting me down dude."

"Dustin: That sucks man. Well at least you are single now; we can finally go in clubs. Lets' have a bros night."

"Link: I am down, but hey I have a question?"

"Dustin: What is it man?"

"Link: How are things with you and Elena? You guys have been talking for a good while. Are you still doing that 'thing' with her through the phone?"

"Dustin: Elena is cool and all, but it is best if we stay friends. I like the talking dirty from her she is great at it; like I got needs. But I did meet a girl though. She is a coach from a town called Eagles, her name is Brittany. Dude she is amazing, I want to ask her out but I don't know if she feels the same towards me."

Elena could not read it anymore; she had a tear coming down her face. Her heart dropped into a million faces, and that moment she felt like the biggest idiot in the world. She drove home rage and sadness; she nearly cried all the way until she got home. Elena could not believe Dustin lead her on. As soon as she got home, she got the purple elephant that she kept when Dustin won it for her the day they met. Elena gave it to her lab Marley as a toy so he can chew and tear up. She could not believe that she was the biggest fool of them all. Sandy try calling Elena like 4 times, and at the 5th time Elena finally responded. "Hello?" Elena sniffled. "Godly, Elena are you okay?" "What do you think?" Sandy sighed, "Look sweetheart you will be fine. You are a strong independent women that I know. Just get rest." "Alright I have to go." As Elena hanged up the phone, she could not get the messages between Link and Dustin had on facebook. She was so heart broken, and felt like the biggest idiot in the world. She just thought over that she made the mistake talking dirty to him, and sending nudes to him was the dumbest choice she ever did. With Dustin it did not even faze him, when she sent a nude pic he did it back but little did he know the way he ended up hurting Elena changes her forever. Elena was literally Dustin first crush that she ever liked of her type, and the first heart break.

The next day Elena got rest, and did not get a text from Dustin in the morning like she used too. She made a promise to try and move on, and never talk to him again. But, it was bugging her, it was bugging Elena that Dustin did not text her like he use too. Elena was at school for the Cardinals and it was a free period. She just stared at her phone wanting to so badly to text Dustin. She thought about it some more and realized Dustin does not know that she knows he has feeling for another girl. So she had an idea, if she texts him like nothing even happened maybe she still has a chance with Dustin. Elena knew this was like a crazy idea, but she was just holding onto the idea of hope. As a girl it is hard to let go of your first heart break, and it takes time to get over it. Some other takes it differently when it comes to heart break. Elena grabbed her phone and just texted Dustin with a simple hey. Shortly after just for a minute he responded, "Hey." Later on they ended up texting like they use too. There was still the dirty talk ending up happening. Low key though, Elena really liked the dirty talk from Dustin it kind of turned her on. Elena called Sandy as the day was ending, "Hello?" "Hey Elena what's up?" "I have a favor." "What is it?" "Do you still have access to Link facebook?" "Oh you know I do, why?" Sandy chuckled. "Well look I have something to tell you. I realized yeah Dustin may like another girl, but he does not know that I know. I ended up texting him today, and maybe I probably still have a chance. I know this may seem crazy to you, but I want you to once in a while when I ask you to look at Link and Dustin messages on facebook. I just want to see if there is a chance they could talk about me or Dustin talking about that girl." Sandy was shook, "Elena this is crazy. Like you are hurting girl, are you sure you want to do this?" "Yes I know it is crazy, and I am sure. If my chances with him are out the window then I will completely give up on him. I know what I am doing, but please tell me you will say yes."

Sandy sighed, "Alright I will do it, but just remember the consequence Elena."

"I know and I will accept it as is." Elena accepted.

After April 23rd, 2015, Elena had been texting Dustin for about a month but it has been three months since the last saw each other. During that month, Elena had told Dustin how she felt about him but Dustin did not feel the same way. He told her "we are better off friends. Sorry I lead you on didn't mean to." Elena was heartbroken, but she could not stop texting Dustin because to her Dustin had this vibe that she like that made her feel owned by him. Even though he told her to be friends, when the dirty talked happened Dustin told Elena saying "You are mine. No one else." With those words, Elena liked that Dustin told her that and it just made her want to text him more. There were times that Dustin would text Elena first, but it did not phase Dustin that what he was doing to Elena was just nothing. He just felt like she is a cool girl to talk dirty to and keep as Friends with Benefits with on the phone, because not most girls are like that. Also he had the guts to even tell her that he likes another girl to Elena. That really hurt her, but she is trying to not let that phase her.

May 31st 2015, Elena was going to text Dustin when she got him but she looked at her snap and saw that Dustin posted a story. What she was really hurt her, she did not expect it all. When she saw Dustin story, he posted about a girl whose birthday it was and had the caption "Not only it's the princess birthday but we marked the date. She is finally mine." When Elena saw that, she broke down in tears and more heart broken than ever. She still ended up feeling like the biggest idiot in the world. She did not know what to do anymore. The way Dustin was with her changed her forever. Elena slowly processed the acceptance that Dustin was with another girl. She wrote in her journal to remind herself that she can overcome this because she is a strong person. She put, "My heart no longer felt as if it belonged to me. It now felt as it had been stolen, torn from my chest by someone who wanted no part of it. To be rejected by someone doesn't mean you should also reject yourself or that you should think of yourself as a lesser person. It doesn't mean that nobody will ever love you anymore. Remember that only ONE person has rejected you at the moment, and it only hurt so much because to you, that person's opinion symbolized the opinion of the whole world. Yes, I understand why things had to happen this way. I understand his reason for causing me pain. But mere understanding does not chase away the hurt. It does not call upon the sun when dark clouds have loomed over me. Let the rain come then if it must come! And let it wash away the dust that hurt my eyes!"

Elena finally accepted the fate of Dustin dating another girl. She made a decision to never ever have contact with Dustin ever again. Let's see if Dustin will ever notice.
