Part 20: Our birthday

After a minute I realised that I can't forgive Harry so soon. Why soon? I'm never gonna forgive him. Realising that I leaned out immediately and pushed him away.
"I can't take this anymore Harry. You first left me. Then you told me that you don't wanna see me again. Then you suddenly want to invest in my business. Then you flirt with Nicole. Then you show up at my house. Then kiss me and tell me that you need me. It's hard to figure you out Harry. And for the first and last time I'm saying that you have already brought a huge distance between us and Now I got no strength to cover it up. Just. Leave. Me. Alone. I beg"
Harry kept listening this quietly an was looking at the floor.
"I ain't asking you to forgive me either. I know I was right and did the right thing to protect my love. And fine! You wanna live alone. Perfect. I won't show you up as your Harry but as Harry Styles, your investor. Be happy!" Saying this he immediately turned away and rushed out of the room.
I could then hear my main door banged.

I then just leaned to the wall and sat down on my knees. All the pain in my heart exploded and I started crying badly. I never wanted to hurt you Harry but I don't have strength to get myself hurt again. I'll die this time because I won't be able to handle myself now. You no doubt protected your love but you could protect me being with me too. And this didn't happen because of you.....I kept crying for hours.
The day was long for me.

Liam dealt the rest of the meetings with Harry.
I never showed up in front of him.

Few days later.
I was in my office with Liam. We were discussing our future plans and other official stuff.
"Evelyn it's your birthday tomorrow!" Liam quietly mentioned.
"Yeah.....I know" saying this I stared at the file I was reading.
"Do you wanna celebrate it?"
"No....not willing to!"
"No problem but at least let's have dinner together"
"Ya sure why not! Please invite Sarah too! I'll love it if she shows up"
"Oh okay!" And we passed smiles.
This will be my first bday so far when I won't celebrate or share it with Harry.

I was in my room. I turned on 'strong' by 'one direction'.
I went to my closet and pulled out a box out of it. It was the box in which I kept all those gifts given by Harry to me.
'Cause when I'm not with you, I'm weaker, is that so wrong? Is it so wrong?.....I'm sorry if I say I need you....' that line just touched my heart and remind me of Harry saying 'I need it' in terms of he needs me.
The song is titled as 'strong' but it's lyrics is making me more weaker.
I removed that envelope of wishes from the box and stared at it. I recalled the ride when we exchanged our gifts. That moment was precious for me but now it is worthless.
It's over now.
Later after gazing at every gift of his I kept the box away.

Next day.
Today, it was my birthday. Just few days before I lost my Mom and Dad.
After that long day in office, I was getting for the dinner.
I chose a midi red dress and wore black heels. I put on a light make up and also a smile.

Soon I reached the restaurant and I saw Liam with Sarah standing at the entrance talking to each other.
I parked my car and walked towards them.
"Am I late?"
"No!.....Evelyn You are looking so gorgeous in that red dress!" Sarah exclaimed happily while gazing up at me.
"I agree with Sarah! Looking great Evie!" Liam smiled.
I blushed a little and then we all entered the restaurant.
Liam started telling me about how he and Sarah first time met. We never got a chance to discuss or gossip about these topic in detail.
I was enjoying the story and the way he was telling.
Sarah was just blushing and adding few points in the story.
"Omg! You guys are so cute!" I laughed a little and had my dinner.
"I'm sure Liam is gonna be the best husband. You are lucky" I added. Husband? Harry? I then pinched my eyes and immediately tried to focus on the moment.
After we had our dinner we started walking out of the restaurant.
"Thanks for coming guys!" I thanked them.
"Oh no please! We just had good time with you" Sarah comforted me. She is so good.
"I saw you smiling and enjoying after such a long---" he suddenly stopped and looked the restaurant entrance.
"Harry!" He exclaimed.
As soon as I heard him, I turned around to find Harry. I was so happy to see him. But suddenly my happiness turned into fire of jealousy.
I found him walking in with Nicole. Hand in hand.
Suddenly our eyes met. Then he rolled his eyes at Liam and Sarah. I turned my eyes down towards the ground.
"Mr. Payne!" Harry called in a soft tone.
"What a coincidence Mr. Styles"
"Yeah! Oh Miss. Brook is also present over here. Nice to see you all here" he exclaimed and smiled at us.
As soon as he said 'Miss. Brook' I looked at him up in his eyes. Not a ounce of regret or sadness was present in his eyes. He was so happy.
"Is there anything special today? You all together?" He added. Wow! Nice acting Harry!
"Yeah it's Evelyn's birthday today!" Liam answered.
"Oh what a surprise and guess what it's my birthday too!" Saying this he reached his hand towards me. I just stared his hand for 2 seconds and then we shook our hands. As soon as his hand touched mine. My hand was on flames.
"Happy birthday Miss. Brook!" He grinned at me and then left my hand.
"Thanks Mr. Styles and Same to you!" I replied while faking a smile. I wasn't in the mood to smile.
"It's weird saying same to you usually but look at the coincidence!" Nicole interrupted and held Harry's arms.
I ignored her by rolling my eyes away.
"Fine then, meet you later!" Harry said while passing smiles at us.
No! Don't leave please. I want you to stay!.....Evie? Why do you want so? Do you admit that you still love him. Are you jealous seeing Harry and Nicole together?!
I smiled backed and answering my thoughts I walked ahead passing Harry and Nicole.
Liam and Sarah followed me greeting Harry with byes.
Harry isn't mine anymore. Stay away from him.
Why is this becoming so hard for me to except the reality.
