I sat on my bed in my bedroom in my pyjamas. Staring at the empty page in my notebook with a pen inbetween my teeth. I turned my head to look out of the window and let out a sigh before looking at my journal again.

Dear Diary,
Today is a new start. I will smile and not be the depressed Ivy that I was last school year. I will tell people 'I'm good, thanks', in hopes that they will believe me. Today will be a new me. I made a promise to my parent's graves and I intend on keeping it. Including protecting their emotions.

I jumped out of bed after placing my journal on my dresser and head into the shower. Once I'm clean, I put on a grey ribbed spaghetti strap top with black jeans, black and white vans and scrunch my hair up to give the beach waves some volume.

I skipped downstairs into the kitchen as I saw Aunt Jenna rush around frantically for her things. "Toast?", She asks me as she places a notebook in her bag. I reached for two coffee thermal flasks as Elena walks in.

"It's all about the coffee", Elena says as I hand her the two empty flasks for her to pour coffee into it. She hands it back to me as Jeremy walks in.

"There's coffee?", Jeremy asks tiredly.

Elena stops for a moment and stares at Jeremy. "How are you doing, Jer?", She asks sympathetically.

Jeremy practically ignores her after replying rudely. "Lunch money...", Jenna says handing us some money. "What else am I forgetting?", She asks herself and pats her pockets.

"Don't you have a presentation?", I ask rhetorically and giggle slightly as she glared at her watch and her eyes almost pop out of her head.

"Yes, I need to be there now",she says anxiously. "Do you need any...?", She begins to say before Elena and I both cut her off in unison.

"We'll be fine. Go", she leaves quickly and we stood there, looking at each other for a few seconds before leaving too as Bonnie pulls up outside.

We were halfway to school driving down the road as Bonnie talks about her crazy Grams who I think is awesome. "So Grams says that I'm psychic", she says with a smile as if she didn't believe her.

I chuckle at her and turn my head to Elena who's sat in the back seat laughing too. "I predicted Obama... And I still think that Florida will break up into islands", she says with a historical smile.

"What do you predict about us?", Elena asks until we're suddenly interupted.

A big black bird swoops into the windshield and flies away, making the car spin in reaction. "Oh my gosh, Elena, Ivy I'm so so sorry... That bird just came out of no where... I swear", she says anxiously.

"It's fine Bonnie", I say as I take a deep breath. "We can't be afraid of cars forever", I say again, settling back in my seat as Elena does the same.

Bonnie continues in hopes of distracting us. "I predict that this year will be kickass. I predict that the sad times are over and your are both going to be beyond happy", she says with a big smile. I have her a big smile, hoping that she's right.

We drove once again, finally reaching school.

Just as I step out of the car, I watched Jeremy as he passes by and heads to the Stoner's corner. "Hey, I'll catch up with you in a bit", I say to Bonnie and Elena as they nod in compliance.

I quickly walk to the Stoner's corner until I accidentally bumped into someone. "I'm really sorry, I didn't watch who I was walking into", I say apologetically and then look up to the person I rudely bumped.

He chuckles. "That's okay, I'm sorry too", he says and takes off his black sunglasses. His eyes sparkled and his hair was perfectly neat. Like Caroline neat. His jawline was dominent as were his cheekbones. For a couple seconds we stood there in admiration until I remembered what I was meant to be doing.
