Chapter 6

Savannah’s POV 

My birthday is coming up on June 9th. But here’s the thing Hayes’s birthday is on June 8th. So I guess I am going to be getting him a present around MY birthday. That’s going to feel strange. I need to ask Nash what he likes but right now I am just about to be discharged from the hospital. I don’t know what it is going to feel like walking on my scarred leg. Hopefully it won’t hurt. As I am thinking about the pain I get a short text from Hayes. 

When are you getting out?

In about half a hour, why?

I was just wondering. I want to be there when you come out!

…Ok then…

It is June 7th. The day before Hayes birthday I really need to get hold of Nash. Maybe he will be with Hayes when I come out.The doctors came in.

“Ok are you ready now?”

“Yep” I reply.

My sister and parents are there too.

“Ok on three. 1…2…3!”

As they help me up I don’t really feel anything but as I look down I see the HUGE scar since I’m wearing short shorts. I breathe in and out slowly to control my feelings.The doctors ask me, 

“How do you feel?”

“Fine. I’m just a little shocked at the scar but I’ll get over that.”

“Ya that was a big bite. I wonder how you didn’t die since all that blood was around you. That boy saved your life.”

“Ya he did.” I think to myself. He really cared about me or would he have done that for anyone. I mean the shark could still have been around.

I walk out of the hospital with my family and see Nash and Hayes standing there. Good. I can talk to Nash. But before I can say anything to Nash, Hayes rushes over and gives me a big hug.

“Are you ok? I can’t believe that happened. At least you can show off the scar and say ‘Ya I survived a shark attack.’” he said.

“I’m fine. I just wanted to thank you for saving me.”

“That…that was nothing. It was just instinct.”

“Whatever I thought it was amazing.”

“Thanks” he said as he blushed.

Isabel walked over to Nash and they hugged. I gave Isabel “the look” because I wanted her to ask Nash if Hayes liked me or not. On the way home I texted Isabel to ask her. She just replied by saying wait and see. Anyway I pulled Nash aside and asked him what I should get Hayes.

“What should I get Hayes for his birthday? I don’t really know.”

“I don’t know. He really likes this town though.”

That got me thinking. I am going to get him a hat with the Santa Cruz logo on it. That will be perfect. Grace and Lauren have been doing other things but I think Grace has been hanging out with Brent a lot. She keeps sending me txts of what she is doing. Lauren I have heard from barley at all and considering that she is Isabel’s best friend I would have expected them to be hanging out more.Speaking of Lauren she just sent me this txt.

Meet me at my house with your sister and Nash. I need to talk to you guys.

Ok be there in a bit.

When we got there I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Cameron was there and they were standing really close together like they were connected or something. We got there and I was the first one to speak out.

“So what is this all about? Are you guys dating or something?” They gave each other a disgusted look. 

“No.” Lauren said.”We are twins.”

“WHAT?!?” Me, Nash, and Isabel said in unison.

Lauren started explaining, “Ya our parents apparently split up when we were little and I went with my dad while he went with my mom. Our parents recognized us straight away and knew they had some explaining to do.”

We were all dumbfounded. Then I got a txt from Grace.
