josh ran until he felt like his lungs were going to explode. it was like he couldn't escape this town no matter where he went. he had passed these children playing in the street too many times for him to count. he stopped to breathe, placing his hands onto his knees as he bent over. tears started to fall onto the pavement as the feeling of hopelessness settled into his bones. someone tapped him on the shoulder, it was the blue haired guy from the music store.
"are you alright?" his face looked worried as he got the attention from josh.
"are you real, or are you just trying to make me feel like i'm in some weird paradox?"
"you've finally noticed? how long has it been, like, a week or two?" frank sighed as he sat down with josh following with him.
"what do you mean, 'finally noticed'?" josh laid back onto the sidewalk, arms spread out the hot pavement burning his skin slightly.
"this world was badly put together. it's like we're in the matrix, but everything keeps glitching and restarting." frank glanced over at josh who just seemed to be more frustrated. "the other day, i tried to order a coffee at a restaurant and this lady came back to my table with the same order five or six times when i didn't order anything."
"how do we get out?" josh stared up at the blue sky, a part of it in a hexagonic shape snowing on a part of town in the middle of june. "i don't even know your name."
"my name's frank. we need to try and make such a glitch that it destroys the fake world we're in."
"but how is that going to be possible?" josh placed his hands over his face with frank sighing.
"i don't know, josh."
