Hospital Visit

Chapter 7: Hospital Visit

Red

I stand there as I watch the first responders fish out Prince Green's corpse out of the cave. I wonder... am I in shock? I can't grasp the fact that just moments... if I got there any sooner... He would still be alive. Officer Jenny stands next to me as I sit on a fallen log. She is taking down my statement of the events that have occurred. I start at the very beginning, when we first met. I mention the party, how alive he was and how that night he disappeared. The last person I saw him with was that Monsieur Forte. I tell her how I left Eindoak Castle after the party and began traveling back home to Pallet Town when I thought I heard a faint voice calling for help and that's how I found Green. She walks away saying something on the lines of she is going to contact her sister, Officer Jenny of Eindoak to get to the bottom of this. I stand up slowly and falter a little. I look at Pikachu and he is sad too. He liked Green and his Eevee too.

"Officer Jenny! Come quick!" One of the Paramedics call. 

I don't hear this. I am too busy being in another world. Just one moment sooner... and he may have still lived.

"Red! Come over here!" Officer Jenny says. She waves her hand as if he means do this quickly. I snap out of my thoughts and start walking. I look at Officer Jenny then into the ambulance. My eyes widen and my mouth drops.

"GREEN!?!" I scream in disbelief.

"That's impossible." Jenny says in denial.

"Well... not quite..." One of the paramedics say.

We, me and Officer Jenny, look at him like he is insane.

"You see... It's called Lazarus Syndrome. It is very rare for it to happen. Less than 50 cases have been reported since... 1950 was it? Anyway, it has to do with the heart being able to start beating again after CPR. Due to it being rare, scientist don't really know much on how it happens nor why. So, your friend Green... is extremely lucky." The paramedic explains.

"Wha?" I can't even finish a word. I am to overjoyed to see Green alive.

"May I?" I ask. The paramedic steps aside and I climb up into the ambulance.

"Green. It's me. Red." I say softly.

All he does is look at me. Blank. Emotionless.

"Green? It's me... Red." I say a little emotional.

"Who's Green?" he asks sincerely.

I look at him. What do you mean who is Green? You are Green. I look pleadingly to the paramedics who were listening in. The blonde one climbed into the ambulance and gave Green a quick examination.

"Prince Green has amnesia. It must have been due to the trauma that was inflicted to his forehead. He may never fully remember what happened if he regains his memory." He says slowly so I catch all of his diagnostics.  

"Is there anything I can do?"

"Anything. Amnesia is different for every person." He says.

"Okay... Will you contact his parents? They were worried sick when he disappeared." I ask.

"All of that will be done when we get the Prince to the hospital."

"Okay... Then lets going."

The ambulance begins speeding to the closest city. Viridian City is a natural city. Many gardens, trees and open spaces grace the city along with the residence that live there. Just to the west is the entrance to Victory Road and the Elite 4. So many memories fly back. Battling the Elite 4... And of coarse beating the champion. WAIT!!! Of topic! We get to the hospital in record time (if there was a record). Green gets wheeled straight into the hospital. I stay outside and call my mom. I haven't spoken to her in like, forever.

The phone rings... then rings... and rings...

"Hello?"

"Hey mom." I say happily.

"Oh high honey. How is it going?" She asked surprised.

"Well... I'm back in Viridian City."

"Really? Ooh! Your so close. Stop by, won't you?" She asks.

"Yes mom." I say as if I'm rolling my eyes.

"You better!" She starts laughing and I join her.

"So, how's it going. We haven't spoken in a month or so was it?" She asks.

"Well... Um... interesting... I was invited to Prince Green of Eindoak's masquerade ball."

"Really? That's amazing. How did you manage that?" She asks enthusiastically.

Um... how did I? I don't really know how exactly to explain this since it is a little... strange? No...

"Um... It's kind of hard to explain mom." I tell her slowly.

"Well take your time. I'm not busy."

Oh come on!!! Why does that never work with my mom?

"Well... I was in Eindoak for a festival. I was about the castle grounds when I heard a beautiful, sad voice... So, I followed it and... met Prince Green. We hit it off right away and became friends... so he invited me." I explain, though it's quite hard for me to.

There is a silence in my moms voice.

"Mom!!! It's not like that!?!"

She starts laughing. "Well it sounds like you and him shared a special connection... Wait! Why are you in front of the hospital?" She  asks.

"Um... That's the part that gets interesting." I say. I can hear over the phone a news caster talking about Green.

"Mom... What are you watching?" I ask suspiciously.

I turn my head towards the street. "Red! Champion Red! Can we have a word!!!" I heard being screamed.

"RUN YOU MORON!" I heard my mom scream.

So being the good son I am, I listened to my mother and ran into the hospital. Jesus Christ! You'd think they where the paparazzi.

"Got to go mom. I'll visit."

"WAIT!!! RED!!!" I hang up.

She will understand... Hopefully.
