chapter 6 - my wimpy heart

Chapter 6 –

~Tom’s POV~

I didn’t know what to do but hold her in my arms. I was here to visit Lauren but before I could get near their gate, I couldn’t help but overheard what her Father had just said. I’m not eavesdropping but it’s impossible to not hear her father since he was almost shouting. Did he want everyone in their house know that Lauren is just an instrument to make him feel less guilty of his past actions? Now is not a good time to say good night and just leave her alone. No it’s not a good idea. “ Tom…let’s go somewhere, I need air. If it’s fine with you.” Lauren broke free from my hug. “Of course, where do you want to go?” “Anywhere, I need to get away from here for a while.” We got in the car and drove away from the place she didn’t want to remember what happened. “I miss home and my mom.” She murmured. Luckily I saw a Korean restaurant and took her there. She seemed to cheer up a little when we got in. She was suggesting food that we could eat and some drinks. “What will you have Ma’am and Sir?” the waiter approached us. We gave him out orders. “Oh and a bottle of Soju please.” Lauren added. “I’ll be having one too.” I know what soju is but if Lauren’s gonna drink, I won’t let her do it alone. I’m not a drinker but I won’t get drunk easily so one bottle would be enough. After a few minutes, the waiter served our food. It tasted really good. I love the taste of Korean foods now. After eating, Lauren took out a £15. “My treat!” she insisted. The waiter got our payment and we started to drink our soju with shot glass provided. After finishing our bottle, we got out of the restaurant and walk back to the car. While walking Lauren started to felt dizzy but she denies that she’s drunk. “Lauren, you’re already drunk. Do you want water?” “No! I’m not drunk Tom! Hahaha! You know what? I enjoyed this night Hahaha!” “I knew it, you had too much.” I carried her on my back. “Tom, why are you doing this? Why are you always there when I need you?” “Because I’m not leaving you alone and now I know you need me.” “Wait, I don’t wanna go home yet. Let’s sit there for a while. A little chat maybe?” she pointed at the bench under a tree near to where my car was park. We sat on the bench and I swore, I won’t get my eyes off Lauren, I don’t know what she’ll do when drunk. She rested her head on my shoulder and started to sing a Korean song. I really couldn’t understand what she’s singing but I can feel the emotions. “Tell me Lauren, all you ever wanted was to be with your Dad and for him to accept you as his daughter right?” I asked. “hmm? Oh yeah! Hahahaha! A father’s love…Let me tell you about my life,  back in Korea I only have my Mom. I was contented with that. But when Dad wanted to take me here I was jumping with joy! I was happy that I would feel what it feels to have a mother and a father. Me and my mom, we’re not rich. I don’t always get what other kids have but that doesn’t matter because I have my mom.” My tears were suddenly falling from listening to her. She’s feeling so much pain. She continued her story. “Ok so now, I’m here. I’m not with my mom. Do you know what that means?” “What?” I asked her. I can tell she’s really drunk. But the way she’s drunk, she’s just so true. “That means I don’t have anything now. Yeah sure I may live in a big house, wear pretty clothes and eat fancy food but that’s nothing.” “I disagree with you Lauren, It’s not true that you don’t have anything.” “Huh? Why do you say that?” “Lauren, you have me. I won’t leave you. Don’t ever think that you lost everything. You can always hold on to me. You have me Lauren. You always will.” I answered. “Thank you Tom,…I had fallen for you. I blame gravity!” she said trying to cover her face that was turning red. “Shhs. You don’t need to blame anything because I will catch you.” I reached for her hands and pulled it away from her face. Suddenly she hugged me tightly and whispered “I love you Tom.” I pulled away gently and put my hands on her neck and waist, pulled her closer. “I love you too. More than you can imagine.” I pulled her face closer. “Close your eyes, feel my love and erase the emptiness in your heart.” I kissed her lips. After a few seconds she pulled away. “Tom..you are my first kiss.” She said softly. I hugged her and rested my chin on top of her head, enjoying our night. No matter how broken she is, I will fix that.
