It’s been 5 months. Y/N was best friends with the one she met. It was a beautiful meeting.
And that best friend was named Mark.
For V… Y/N had lost contact with him. She never asked for his phone number. V never came back to the park whenever she went. She was always disappointed. She liked those times when they met up, but that was only twice. So Y/N only went to the park with Mark. At least he was there to keep her company. But she did miss V.
Y/N made her way to the wooden bench. The one that V always sat at. She sat down, her skirt straightened as she did. She put her sketchpad to the side and held the pink rose. She still had that pink rose. She tried hardest just to keep that flower alive. It was the only thing that connected her and V together. Y/N always regretted that she just let V leave, that time ago. Because those five months ago, V got a phone call, and he ran out of the flower shop. Why didn’t she ask him for his phone number? Her thoughts were interrupted when Mark walked over, and took the spot where V could’ve been. Mark gave Y/N a different feeling. It wasn’t the same as if V were there. V gave her a feeling of something special. She never knew what it was, though. Y/N looked at the scenery before her. The sun wasn’t as bright, and the leaves were falling. It was Fall. Dead leaves scattered all over the park’s ground. The fountain wasn’t on. The fountain was only meant for spring and summer. But it was still filled with water. Even if it wasn’t on. People had tossed coins in it and was full. The copper and silver glittered inside the water. The colors around her were yellow, orange, red, and brown. But why did it still look beautiful? Even if some of the flowers were a bit faded, the warm colors made it beautiful. Y/N could still see the colors. She was so grateful that she would see the colors.
Mark watched Y/N as she smiled at the beautiful park. This made him smile too. But he didn’t know the feeling that made Y/N come here all the time. He came because she came. Why didn’t he feel that feeling as well? It was just the feeling of being sentimental. Yet, he didn’t feel that like Y/N did. Like V did. But what was it that they were sentimental for? Why was this feeling in them whenever they were here, in this particular park? When Y/N came here, before she met V, there was no feeling of this. She just thought that everything was pretty. But now, something is in her heart. Something she can’t hold in, but can’t let out. It made no sense to her. So, what was thisfeeling? Wistfulness? Did she regret meeting V? How would this happen? Why was she feeling this, that felt like a burden, but also weight-lifting? What was this? It was so confusing. She wasn’t sure if she would ever understand this. And no matter how many times she asked Mark about it, he never responded. There would be no help in someone who didn’t feel that as well. She hoped that she could meet V again. So that she can ask him. So that she would let this feeling pass. It made her long for something. She wasn’t sure what it was.
Y/N tried not to think about it and averted her eyes over to one color that did not belong in the warm colored area. Green. One green leaf was left on the ground, half buried under the other faded leaves. It poked out, and the color was vibrant. She stood up and tried to reach for the leaf, but a huge gust of wind cut through that park, bring leaves, including the green one, with it. Y/N didn’t know what she felt. She wanted that leaf. It was like it was the only thing left of the spring. She didn’t know why she felt sentimental over it. It never belonged to her. What was her problem? And she couldn’t believe that she went running for that leaf. She didn’t notice how the wind brushed all of the leaves away, and that Mark was chasing after her. Her hair unraveled from it’s bun, and her locks swung behind herself.
Y/N also didn’t realize that she left her sketchpad at the bench, because she was already chasing the leaf, that was heading to the playground. The playground was still, and no child was there. Except for a guy, sitting on the swings. He didn’t look up, but stared at the ground. She stretched her arm out, trying to reach for the leaf that was so close. But then it flew farther, in the direction of the swings in the distance. She didn’t even realize that someone was sitting on the swings, sitting still.
