Summary~Alex has had a crush on Louis for the longest. So before he leaves for war he makes a deal with Louis that if he makes it back, Louis owes him a date.

Third person's POV

Alex sat on the train with Tommy, anxiously waiting to get home. The boy he had been in love with for years was waiting for him.

"Why did you want to get home so badly?" Tommy asked.

Alex smirked at the thought of the small boy, "Let's just say someone owes me a date for making it back."

Tommy chuckled, "You bet your life on a date?"

"Yep, gave me the motivation to live." Alex nodded.

"So life itself wasn't enough of a motivation?" Tommy raised an eyebrow.

"Shut up." Alex rolled his eyes and looked out the window. The train came to a halt and Alex and Tommy climbed out, parting ways. They'd probably cross paths again some day but for now they were as good as strangers.

Alex made his way to his house, eager to get back to his family. He may have been eager to see Louis but he was equally as eager to see his family.

He got up to the house and knocked on the door, waiting patiently. Anne, Alex's mother, opened the door and as soon as she saw her son standing there she covered her mouth with her hands and began to sob uncontrollably.

"Come here, mum." Alex said and opened his arms to her. She fell into his arms and sobbed into his chest.

"Oh Alex, I-I didn't know if you were coming home or not. Everyday that passed I got even more worried. So did your sister and brother and-and god we missed you so much." She rambled.

"I know, I know. I missed you guys too." Alex said as he blinked back tears. He refused to cry, he was in the war for Christ sake. How would it look if he cried right now?

"Mum, who's at the—Alex!" Alex's sister, Gemma, came running towards him and hugged him as well.

"Gem." Alex said as he buried his face in the crook of her neck. He pulled away from her, "So, are you going to let me in or?"

"Yes, of course! Come in and I'll make you some tea." Gemma said as she rushed into the house, dragging Alex into the house.

She rushed into the kitchen and Alex sat down on the couch with Anne. "Where's Harry at?" Alex asked. Harry was his brother, his twin brother in fact.

"He's um upstairs, Harry!" Anne yelled.

Stomps were heard coming down the stairs, "Mum, what could possibly be so important that I—Alex." Harry smiled widely and ran down the rest of the steps and gave his brother a hug.

"Hey, Haz." Alex said into his shoulder.

"Dude, we weren't sure you were coming back. We were all so worried about you." Harry said, on the verge of tears. Out of everybody in his family, he was closest to Alex. They'd known each other their whole lives, they even shared the womb.

"But I'm okay, everything is okay." Alex soothed as he rubbed Harry's back gently.

Harry released him and they both sat on the couch as Gemma brought in some tea. "So, tell us what happened." Gemma said.

Anne nudged her with a glare, "You shouldn't ask him about it. It was a traumatic time for him that he probably doesn't want to talk about."

"No, no it's fine." Alex smiled and told them stories of his time in the war. The three were fascinated by all that he had experienced and how hard he fought to get home. He was a bit uneasy about certain things he wasn't proud of like trying to sacrifice the French man but he still told it all.
