Things started moving pretty quickly from then. Although he did come for the study date the day after our first date, he didn't get to meet my parents since they were working. He was quite relieved, till he met Jackson.

Jackson questioned him, and if it was any other guy he would have peed his pants by the time Jackson was done, but not Tyler. He answered all of Jackson's questions satisfactorily, and gained my brother's trust.

After Jackson left, I looked at him apologetically, but he laughed it off and got on with our studying, sneaking in occasional kisses, by which I mean we just ended up making out on the couch the whole time.

Jackson came in later when we were in the kitchen getting a snack and asked "How old are you?

I looked up at Tyler, because I've been wondering that myself. He's too buff and tall to be a 14 year old like me, and he drives a car, so I'm assuming he has a license. Yet we share classes. I waited for him to answer.

"I'm 16, turning 17 this year."

I gaped at him with my mouth open. WHAT? HE'S ALMOST 3 YEARS OLDER THAN I AM? Holy shit I must look like some kid to him. But how's that possible? We're in some of the same classes.

"Don't look so surprised Jamie, It's because of my parents." And he gave me a look which made me understand. Maybe he didn't attend school for a while after his parents died.

Jackson looked confused, but let it pass. I think he was relieved that I wasn't with some total loser of a kid or something.

But it still bothered me. I don't have any experience what-so-ever in this whole "dating" field, and he's almost 17. Surely he must have been, no DONE more than I have in my miserable 14 years of life.

"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, putting his arms around me.

"Nothing, I just suddenly feel inadequate. You could've told me you were older you know? I would've helped you the trouble of going out with some inexperienced kid, or the charges of child molesting."

He took one long good look at me and started laughing. This boy laughs too much for his own good.

"What'd I do now?" I asked.

"Nothing Jay, it's just... child molesting? You're kidding right? Look, just because I'm older, doesn't mean I've more *experience* or whatever you think it is... I told you, I don't talk to girls that often. Meaning I've not had any girlfriends till now and have kissed barely 2 girls in the past. And it's just a matter of 2 and half years, jay, so stop over reacting okay?"

"What do you mean till now? I'm not your girlfriend." Yet.

"Well I was hoping you will be?" well, he sure did look hopeful.

"But we've only been on one date." I wanted to say yes, oh I so wanted to. But I wasn't going to jump into anything.

"I don't care. Jamie Sullivan, I find you insanely attractive and charming. I can't get enough of your chatter and my heart melts every time you smile at me. So will you please do the honor of being my girlfriend?" Wow. For a boy who claims to not talk to girls very often, he sure does have a way with words.

Maybe he's quoting Nicholas Sparks.

"For a minute there I thought you were asking me to be your wife. You may be dying old man, but I'm still young okay?"

He laughed. "So will you? Be my girlfriend that is."

"I'd love to."

He smiled, and lifted me up in his arms and kissed the senses out of me.
