A green haired boy was sitting on a log, observing his notebook in his hands. His Sceptile was standing next to him.

The Sceptile noticed its trainer was spacing out, more often than usual. Sceptile nudged its trainer on the shoulder. The boy jerked up, slugging his shoulders slightly, and scratched the back of his head.

"Sorry, Sceptile," He apologized sheepishly. He flipped the pages of his notebook to one of the first pages, where there was a neat drawing of circles and arrows. He closed it and looked beyond the cliff edge near Lysandre Labs. Well, the demolished lab. "I was just thinking about going back to Hoenn..."

Sceptile nodded his head. The forest Pokemon then darted off into the forest behind them, reappearing at his trainer's side with an Oran Berry. Using Leaf Blade, he sliced the berry in half and gave one half to his trainer.

"Sawyer!" A voice called out. Sawyer lifted his head to see Steven Stone, the Hoenn Champion. "Have you finished writing your notes?"

"Oh, hey Mr-uh, I mean Steven," Sawyer greeted. It had been a habit of his to subconsciously call him "Mr. Stone" due to his status. Sawyer took a bite from the half of the Oran Berry. After swallowing it, he replied, "Yeah, I'm finished."

"Ok, great!" Steven smiled, holding a thumbs-up. "I believe our work here is done. You are free to go now."

Sawyer beamed. He closed up his notebook and stuffed it in his vest pocket.

"Ivysaur, Vine Whip!" A familiar voice was heard in the distance. Sawyer patted Sceptile on the head before returning the forest Pokemon back into its Pokeball and hurried off to the direction the voice was coming from.

The green haired trainer arrived at a clearing in a forest. There, he found a crowd of Pokemon sitting around, forming a small circle. Sawyer sat on the ground, half of him behind a bush so the Pokemon wouldn't notice him.

A Foongus approached him, its small eyes gazing at Sawyer with curiosity. Sawyer petted it on the head, broke off a piece of the Oran Berry Sceptile gave him earlier and fed it to the Foongus. The Foongus' eyes shone with gratitude and settled in its place next to Sawyer.

"Now, Flabébé, Fairy Wind!" Sawyer's attention went to the middle of the imaginary circle. There, a girl with brown hair tied in pigtails and lime green eyes was dancing on the makeshift stage. Her Ivysaur used Vine Whip to blow the Fairy Wind into a glittery tornado. "Moonblast!"

The Flabébé floated through the tornado and charged up a creamy yellow beam tinted with light pink. When it floated to the top, it released the beam, and it shot in the air, sending fireworks exploding in the sky. It sucked up the Fairy Wind, and let out a shower of pink and yellow glitter, ending the girl's performance.

The Pokemon cheered, and Sawyer clapped a little as well. He hadn't watched a performance like that for a while since he was focused on his own journey. The girl glanced in his direction, suddenly aware of his presence.

"Shauna, right?" Sawyer inquired, standing up. Shauna nodded her head. "Aren't you supposed to be with Tierno and Trevor?"

"We decided to separate for a while," Shauna answered. She returned Flabébé and Ivysaur and knelt down to pet the Pokemon crowding around her. "I also wanted to travel to other regions, perhaps maybe Hoenn."

Sawyer's eyes lit up. "Hey, I was thinking about going back there too!" The Foongus he encountered earlier ran up to Shauna, jumping up and down.

"Wait, you haven't traveled through there before?" Shauna stood up, brushing off the dirt on her legs. "Aren't you from that region?"

"I am from Hoenn, but I haven't explored the region fully yet," Sawyer replied sheepishly. "After receiving Treecko, we headed straight to Mauville City to go to Kalos."

"How about we travel together?" Shauna asked. When she saw the look on Sawyer's face, she quickly added, "I mean, you don't have to, but..."

"It's fine, I've always wanted to know how it's like to have companions on a journey," Sawyer replied, shaking his head. "Well, except your Pokemon." He started to walk to the edge of the forest. "Let's go; I'm going to see if Steven can get us there."

Shauna was hesitant to follow the green haired boy, but the Foongus nudged her on the leg and gave her a bright smile. "Bye," She whispered.

Soon enough, they were on Steven's private jet, with the view of the ocean right under them. Shauna had her Ivysaur out and was tending to the small flower bud on the Pokemon's back.

"So," She started, trying to commence a conversation. "How's it like in Hoenn?"

"It's pretty great from where I live," Sawyer replied, fidgeting with a bookmark in his notebook. "Although, in big cities like Petalburg or Mauville, it's really crowded."

"For me, I like explore caves and underground mines and whatnot," Steven appeared at the door to the cockpit. He had caught some bit of their conversation. "Shauna, you're a Performer, correct?" Shauna nodded. "I suggest you try Contests. It's a good place to show off your Pokemon's moves, as well as how well you can battle."

"I've heard of those from my friend Serena," Shauna stated. She looked at her Ivysaur and it grinned back at her. "I never knew they were that interesting. I'll probably try it,"

"Steven," Sawyer called, trying to get the Champion's attention. "Can you drop us off at Littleroot?"

"Where's that?" Shauna asked.

"It's where I live," Sawyer replied. "Well, lived. Before I started my journey. I want to visit my cousin there, 'cause I haven't seen her in two years."

"Sure thing," Steven nodded. He opened the door to the cockpit, and called to the pilot, "Make a stop at Littleroot Town!" Just then, Sawyer peered out the window and saw lush, green land.

"How fast does this plane go?" Sawyer asked in shock to himself. The plane hovered above a clearing on the docks, and a door opened on the side to reveal a flight of two steps. Grabbing his bag, Sawyer hopped off of the plane, with Shauna in tow.

Sawyer breathed in fresh Hoenn air. It was nice to be back home.
