"Help!" Professor Birch yelled. He was frantically running with circles, trying not to get his backside bitten off. "Someone help!"
"Come on out, Sceptile!" Sawyer called out, releasing his starter. The Forest Pokemon let out a battle cry and took its stance.
"You too, Ivysaur!" Shauna shouted, calling out her first Pokemon. Ivysaur emerged, having a threatening glare in her eyes. "Razor Leaf!" The Seed Pokemon conjured up several sharp leaves and fired it to the Poochyena.
"Leaf Storm, then Frenzy Plant!" Sawyer commanded. Sceptile whipped up some leaves from its tail and launched it to the pack. One of the Poochyena, however, had gotten agitated by the attack and prepared to use Bite. Sceptile leaped out of the way, and landed, punching the ground with full force. Several large roots blasted out of the ground and its tips reached for the Poochyena pack. Intimidated, the Poochyena gave up and ran away, followed by the others.
"Whew!" Professor Birch panted, wiping the sweat off his forehead. "I went into the tall grass to survey wild Pokemon when I was suddenly jumped! You saved my hide. Thanks a lot!" Noticing Sawyer, his face turned into a look of recognition. "You're Seraphia's cousin, Sawyer! I gave you your first Pokemon a few years ago." He looked over at his Sceptile. "Your Sceptile is quite the kind. This isn't the place for a chat though. Come along to my lab."

"I see, you challenged the Kalos League." Professor Birch remarked. "That's your first league, right? If that's true, that was quite the performance!"
"Heh, thanks," Sawyer replied sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. Professor Birch looked over at Shauna. "So anyway, I'm trying something new, so I've left all my other Pokemon at Seraphia's house."
"And you're trying out Contests, right?" He asked. Shauna nodded. "I think being performing gives you a good foundation for that." The Professor then retrieved two trays from a counter behind them. Each of the trays had five empty Pokeballs and a device that looked like a Pokedex. "These Pokedexes have all the Pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos."
"Thanks for that as well, Professor!" Sawyer grinned, grabbing the items from one of the trays and put it in his shoulder bag. Turning to Shauna, he asked, "So, where should our first stop be?"
"It might be a good idea to start near Route 103. My boy, Reuben, happens to be there surveying wild Pokemon for me. What do you think?" Professor Birch interjected.
"Sure!" Shauna replied for both of them. She already took her items from the tray and was starting to walk out of the lab. As they walked around Route 1, Shauna noticed Sawyer wasn't using a map. "Are you sure this is where we're supposed to go?"
"Yeah. I've explored these routes a lot of times with Seraphia before I could go on my journey," Sawyer answered. He soon became distracted, however, when a lime green and white blur moved in the corner of his eye. He shrugged it off and continued walking, until he noticed the blur moved along with him, but quite slowly. He tapped Shauna on the shoulder and pointed to the direction where the blur is. "I think there's something over there,"
As they moved closer, the blur became more clear. It was a Pokemon, obviously, and it had a mushroom-like body shape and humanoid features. Its face was mostly hidden by lime-green hair, shaped in a bowl-cut, and there were two red, flat, horns on its head, one on the front and one on the back. It looked injured; its breathing was coarse and there were scars on its body.
"Never seen this one before, but it looks similar to a Gardevoir," Shauna commented, pulling out her newly received Pokedex.
"Ralts, the feeling Pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Kirlia. A Psychic and Fairy type." The Pokedex stated in a feminine, monotone voice. "Ralts senses the emotions of people using the horns on its head. This Pokémon rarely appears before people. But when it does, it draws closer if it senses that the person has a positive disposition. His ability is Synchronize, and his hidden ability is Telepathy. Note: Hidden ability is not unlocked yet."
