Chapter 16 Dads honour

I watch as the doctor and nurse check my vitals and temperature "Avery how are you feeling" the nurse asks me she hadn't left from when I blacked out.

"A bit sick" at least I wasn't vomiting anymore.

"I'm sorry it will pass shortly. So Avery what's your full name including middle names and Date of birth"

"Avery Diatiró Kristin Alanis and it's  January 8th 1997" she smiles with a nod

"Thank you this is so I can look at all the records on our system , Can I ask you a couple of questions" I nod she turns to Yatesy "Mr Yates you might want to leave the room" he was reluctant but gets up and leaves "Avery are you sexually active" I shake my head turning a bit red in embarrassment "oh right ok sorry, when was the last time you passed out".

"I can't remember I thought it was because I hasn't eaten".

"Do you blackout much" I look behind the nurse to see the doctor making notes I shrug "your dad informed me you lost your mum, I'm sorry about that, have you slept?" truthfully I haven't really I never have.

"I struggle to sleep I have nightmares".

"What are they like?" I go into detail about my dreams and I get goose bumps just talking about them.

"My friend is helping me I actually got back in the pool but the dreams haven't gone".

After a couple of hours later the doctor come back with the results he sits down down across from the bed I was occupying "Avery you have a post traumatic stress disorder, thats why your having blackouts and are unable to sleep properly, and it's because of the the trauma you suffered during your accident, your co-ordination is off because your brain is healing".

I was allowed to leave the hospital shortly but was given some tablets and was under strict instructions not to be on my own.

We arrive back at Yatesy's after taking a taxi home it was stupid o'clock "I suppose you want to sleep" I shake my head.

"Nope not yet do you" he shakes his head "can we go and get some ice cream" he gives me a confused look.

"If you like kid".

We walk to a McDonald's since it's open 24 hours and sit down after getting a McFlurry "I haven't had one of these for years"he laughs digging his spoon in the rolo flavoured McFlurry I had the same.

"Mum and I always went when she came over and couldn't sleep " I smile there was a comfortable silence.

"She always was a night owl  your mum when I was with her I saw more sun raises than I do working at Bondi so about Bondi Ava what's going on between you and a certain Jesse Polock" I shrug I'm guessing he may of heard what was said in the car on our way home from the airport.

"Nothing important".

"You are safe right" I give him a look and laugh when it clicks when he says "I don't really want to be a grandad at 44"

"No way on God's earth,  I'm not having this conversation" then the attention of someone falling caught my attention.

"Are you kidding me" I looked to see a professional dressed women taking off her black heals then she looks up and Yatesy smiles with a chuckle does he know the mystery light brown haired and fair skinned women .

"Alex "he stands up and goes over to her "you alright your not hurt are you "

"Kris no no I'm fine what are you doing in here?".

"I'm here with my daughter" her eyes go wide "so what are you doing here at midnight".

"Just finished a twelve hour shift at the station , hows things down at Bondi?"

"Alright haven't see you there in a while ".

"I'm stuck at the office since the accident".

They spoke a little longer until she got her food then left, "whose she?" I can't help but ask as he sits down again.

"Alex?" I nod " Alex is a ex girlfriend, she's a copper".

"Really I can't imagine you with a copper ".

"Who do you Imagine me with " he smiles.

"A hippy" he rolls his eyes "I stereotyped I know"

"I'm not a hippy" I was in love with her", Ava tell me the truth are you and Jesse dating" I sigh way to change the subject, I'm going to have be honest now since he did.

"Yes, but don't question him please".

"Dads honour I won't, Ava you can tell me anything you know that.
