Giving tips on improving art is... Actually difficult, if you want to still be able to encourage creativity and personal comfort. Unless you go to an individual artist and tell them about something that they need to work on, because some people may struggle with proportion rather than anatomy, which are two different topics, contrary to popular belief.

But there's one thing that most if not all artists should agree on.

Unless you have plenty of experience/are a godsend and manage to draw the human body PERFECT without sketching first, DO NOT, AND I REPEAT, DO NOT START WITH THE OUTLINE.

I was going through art books on wattpad and I noticed that here especially there are people just guessing where things go!! But you should always gauge and use proportions!! Aka, limbs always have a certain sizing in comparison to the torso! And its always important to practice it!

(dont look at the hand o k a y)

So break down the body like this!! (People do it differently, so I suggest that you test stuff out) Because remember that human figures need to be brought to life! They are 3D even if they're drawings! (This is especially important for those of you wanting to be 2D animators or comic artists)

And then after you have the sketch, you can add whatever you want to your character.

Once you get a bit better, you can estimate things a little more, like only using circles for where the shoulders go and nothing else

The youtuber H.C. Brown provides some really good anatomy videos (although she does curse a little often)

References also help tremendously! For drawing everything, really.

So look up some stock photos online and look at it as you draw!

Can't find a good reference for a certain pic? If you have a full length mirror, why not use it to model standing poses? Or if you have a flexible doll that has movable/realistic joints, why not use that?
