His love for her wilted like a flower—seemly slow to sit and watch, but in retrospect, it was like one day the two barely knew each other, the next they were completely smitten. He tried his best to win her affections, despite already having it. She just wasn't ready for commitment, and she felt pride in her independence. She wondered time and time again why that wasn't a sufficient enough answer for him. He never ceased to try and prove to her what he really could be for her, and sometimes it made for an awkward standing for their mutual friends. She never knew why he was so adamant, but everyone else did. It was his most shared secret.
