As whispers of a woman screaming in silence played through our red Crosley vinyl player, I grinned at her. Molly. Molly always had such a hardcore love for Green Day that it made me fall even harder in love with her. It was a Green Day concert where I met her and fell in love with her. In September of 2004, Green Day came to Chicago to inform the masses the importance of not becoming an American idiot and how we should casually tell the patriarchy to fuck off. My best friend Nick and some buddies from work won a couple of tickets to Green Day's show on the air and decided we should all double date to the show. Thing is, I was single at the time so Nick offered to bring his sister along so we could meet. "You'll love her man. She's a huge Chicago Cubs fan. She can quote every line of Ghostbusters and if y'all ever got married we would be brother in laws." Nick said as he convinced me to hang out with "the boys." "I don't know Nick. I don't think I'll ever want to get married, so looks like we won't be brothers," I laughed out. "Besides Nick, I rather stay at home and work on my comic books." I told him as I prayed he wouldnt continue to egg me on until he mentioned the one thing I couldnt say no to. "If you come and go on a date with my little sister, I'll bring a couple of joints to the show and buy your beers and dinner." Well shoot, beers, blunts and free food? "I'm in!" I yelled as Nick laughed at my quick response. "I'll see you on Saturday then and don't forget to dress nice for the date." I nodded my head at my retreating friend and turned back to my work. "Okay, well this comic book isn't going to finish itself," I whispered as I went back to working on my sketches.
