I was on my way to my bus stop when I got a text from Amy. OMG!! You're not going to believe what I saw on Laurey's insta! I don't have any social media so Amy fills me in on all of the gossip. What's up? I asked. Honestly, it could be anything. The things kids from our school can range from kissing their crush to starting a full blown fist fight in the hallway. I put my phone away for a few minutes until I heard the ping of a text alert. It had a selfie she took of her kissing Will's cheek and the caption "new boo"!! I froze. He told me that he likes me. I just needed some time, why doesn't he get that? Whatever, I guess he's just as bad as Laurey and her gang of sluts. I guess I won't be seeing him anymore. Like I care, he kept calling me Jess. I walked into school and put my phone away. I got to my locker and put my stuff in before running to my first class.
~Time Skip to first period~
"Class today we will be reviewing the vocabulary words for Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. Jessica, can you tell me the first word that we learned?" Mr. Jacobson asked. I looked at my vocab sheet.
"The first vocabulary word is admonish. It's another way of saying said."
"Good job. Annie, what's the next word?" As Annie started frantically searching for her vocab sheet, I became lost in thought. Why would Will do that? Normally, I'm not the romantic, but this is a different situation. Ugh, I'm probably getting worked up. I should just leave it be, I thought sadly. If Will wanted to be that way, fine. I just hope he knows I'm not going to hang out with people who hang out with people who hate me.
