I was drowning. I was crying. I was screaming.
I was dying.
My hands formed fists at Bal's chilled back, tugging at the skin that was streaked red, begging his mouth to move in murmurs once more.
Not breathing.
Wood hung off his body like broken crosses. Forsaken by the gods, forgotten by the fates, his eyes lay half open, half closed--darkened.
No heartbeat.
His hand was limp at my temple, his insistent touch gone.
Gone for a lifetime.
I screamed past the flying arrows, the echoing bellows, the hammering rain.
His body shook and quivered with each hit of a newfound arrow.
Bal was dead.
The pummel of dirt and rock were faraway blasts from some distant future. The hissing of arrows through the storm melted away in my awareness.
I was dying.
-A black filled my vision.
A/N: aaaand that'll be all for now, folks. i'll be updating next week. suffer. :''''D
