Some say I look like my mother, others say my father, but whichever one I look like I still have my own identity; Melody, half mermaid princess of the sea and shore. After I got my legs back and my adventure finished, I went out one night for some alone time swimming and found out something awesome; I can change my legs to my old tail and back again at will. Since then, I've been spending my time visiting the underwater world, and a very special friend.

As I sit quietly at the window over looking the darkness of the sea's trench, I shiver at the weird feeling I'm being watched.

"Are you alright Melody darling?" I nod with a weak smile. "Yes Mommy." The figure chuckles, coming up behind me to wrap her arms around my waist.

"I love it when you call me that." I keep the fake smile on my lips, she still notices my discomfort. "Oh darling what's wrong?" I give in, sighing and leaning back into her grasp.

"Do you remember how we reunited?" "Of course, I lured you over with a purple fish. You could've left my place as soon as you saw who I was but chose not to." I smiled. "Yeah. Then we messed around with your potions until I got tired and you let me sleep over. Mom was pissed when I came home but I refused to tell her where I'd been." She smiled, weaving her fingers through my hair.

"Why do you ask such a thing my dearest?" I sighed, grasping her lower arm as it rested beneath my chin.

"We've been seeing each other for three months now, yet we both know we could see each other until the day we die and no one will approve of our relationship." I feel her stiffen against my back. "I know I'm sounding like a wet blanket but when will be able to date without having to worry about the good side's wrath?" "When you're old enough to be married?" "I'm serious." "As am I." I turned my head to look up at her.

"I'm scared Mommy, I don't want you to get hurt again." She smiled, gently kissing my forehead. "Neither one of us is going to get hurt, I promise." But we both knew it was impossible to keep.
