"The captain's a cat?" It had been three minutes since she sat down and I still couldn't quite grasp it. "Yep. Isn't it awesome?" Wendy said as we stood off to the side. There were lots of leftovers, but feasting had finished some time ago and now everyone was just mingling.
"Well sure but...a cat?" "Yeah. Hey...wanna meet her? You should since she's here." "Oh I don't think-" But she was already dragging me over.
"Captain!" The female feline looked up. "Wendy, I was wondering where you were. Your brothers have asked me to come over this evening for story-time, hope you don't mind." Wendy shook her head. "Not at all, as long as you stay for tea in the morning." The adult playfully rolled her eyes. "I don't know about that." Then she noticed me. "Oh? But who's this?" I gulped at her intense gaze.
"Captain, this is Melody, daughter of Princess Ariel and Prince Eric." The feline pupils dilated instantly. "A real princess on non popular Disney territory! That's a first!" She held out a hand. "Captain Amelia of the R.L.S Legacy, it's an honor to meet a high and mighty that isn't so darn stuck up." I sagged with relief as she pumped my arm in a welcoming handshake.
"So Melody, you wouldn't happen to be staying for bedtime this evening would you?" I shrugged. "Maybe. Why?" "Bedtimes absolutely wonderful around here, especially for the younger ones, you should phone your parents and ask if you can stay over."
"Hey A, we need some help with the dishes!" Meg called, the feline rolled her eyes. "Excuse me." And she was gone.
"Well?" Wendy gleefully asked, I shrugged. "She seems...nice. What's her story?" "Eh, tell ya later, let's go have some fun!" And as she dragged me towards the group I couldn't help smiling at the possibilities of tonight.
