It was morning, first day of Hogwarts. I went ahead of everyone when the feast finished, I didn't touch my food I refused eye contact with anyone. Leah was sorted into Ravenclaw, the blonde haired girl I met on the boat was a Hufflepuff, so I was alone. With Malfoy. I'm going to become a murderer soon, I can feel it. I wasn't going to any lessons today, I'd get my timetable, see my lessons, select the ones I wish to attend, then do not attend the rest. I put on my robes and left my room, I had one to myself the others agreed to share. They didn't want to socialise with me, because I was impure. I didn't want to socialise with them, because they were dickheads. I walked through the portrait, ignoring the sneers I got from the other Slytherins who clearly disliked me. Malfoy went out of his way to let everyone know my blood status, so friends within my own house was unlikely. I walked into the great hall, trays of food were scattered along the table, I went up to Professor Snape and asked for my timetable.

"Wait. Sit and I'll come to you.' He muttered.
'I'm not staying in here.' I looked at him, this caught Malfoy's attention.
'And why is that?' He turned to face me, he was tall so I craned my neck to see his face. Most people looked anywhere but his eyes, but I looked him dead in the eyes.
'Let's see, I would not like to sit at a table that is supposed to hold a warm, loving welcome no matter how bad my day is. To only be shunned, insulted, have food thrown at me, and be treated like a piece of shit. Now can I have my timetable.' I held my hand out. He squinted his eyes as the whole hall stood stunned at my address to the cold hearted professor.

He placed the parchment in my hand, stood tall, cocked an eyebrow then turned and left. I huffed and walked back out the hall, I kept walking until I felt I was at a safe enough distance from the whole school. I opened a classroom door, it was vacant and looked unused so I sat on one of the dusty benches, I placed my timetable down and read today's lessons.

Monday
Transfiguration 1st period.
Double charms 2nd/3rd period.
Defence Against the Dark Arts 4th period.
/lunch/
Double potions 5th/6th period.
Herbology 7th period.
/Dinner/

Fairly dull day, I'll go to potions, seemed like a good subject. Herbology seems lame, so I won't go to that. I'll eat at the kitchens, I'm sure I can locate them. I had half an hour until first lesson, I pocketed my timetable and went to find the bushy haired girl. I was walking down the first floor corridor, she walked by herself. She seemed, upset almost. I ran up to her, to bid her a hello.

'Hey.' She turned startled that I was speaking to her.
'Oh hello. How are you?' She smiled.
'I'm okay, I was wondering if you knew where the kitchens were located.' I smiled back at her.
'In the basements, near the Hufflepuff common rooms. It was in Hogwarts a History. A painting of a bowl of fruit, tickle the pare.' She perked.
'Great! Thanks, I knew you would know.' She seemed so happy, so I decided to stay with her.

Walking all around the castle we chatted, she overheard what had happened at breakfast and said she empathised with me. I felt bad for her, she left for Transfiguration and I told her I had to get my book from my dorm room. I turned a corner and ran up some steps instead of going down, I spotted Leah. I ran up to her, halting her in her path. She was off to Charms by the text book in her arms, I smiled.

'Wanna come and explore the castle with me instead of going to lessons.' I whisper that comment as Professor Qurriell came stumbling round the corner.
'I'd say no, but this place is massive. I really want to know all of its secrets.' Leah beamed at me, her brown eyes glowed under her brown hair. We continued walking to the highest point in the castle possible, work our way down was my plan. Hopefully the timing will play out and we can get to the Kitchens a little before lunch break. We sit silently at the top of the Astronomy tower, once we are sure everyone was in a lesson we left and began spiralling down the stairs. I pressed my hands against the right wall and Leah took the left, we wanted to make sure there was no sealed entrances. We pulled and pressed every rock that stuck out the wall, this was going great until we neared the bottom. Leah was slightly running now, she had not yet mastered the idea of being sneaky so it was only right to laugh when she fell face first through a wall. I ran forward to follow her, it was a thin hallway. She sat spitting and coughing, brushing off dust and cobwebs.

'I don't think anyone had found this place before.' She said, squirming as she kicked a spider off from her shoe.
'Never would have guessed that, it is extremely lucky that I had a Ravenclaw with me to tell me such important information.' I help her up and take the lead down the corridor, my brother said learn lumos so that was what I did in my dorm all night. Along with a few other simple spells.

I light my wand and start walking down the steps. It got increasingly colder as we got further down, soon the only light given was from my wand. The dust thickened so we are leaving footprints, we came face to face with a door. I went to open it but it rattled instead, locked. I pulled out my wand and muttered Alohamora, it clicked I pulled the door wide, the sound of the rusted hinges creaking, bounced off the walls. We now stood in a empty room, books littered the floor, stacked to four or five. All of them had cobwebs between gaps the cover of the book over hung, old equipment stood in corners of the room, empty books shelves were broken. The wood of them thin and they slanted downwards, forming a slope in the cupboard. Pillars supported the roof but seemed to inefficient as the smallest movement could quite easily knock them down, murals are plastered on the walls. Each wall dedicated to a Hogwarts house, Slytherin was the first one you saw, then Hufflepuff to the left and Ravenclaw to the right, Gryffindor was the wall that had the door on. The door was placed in the centre of the Lions mouth, a bit of Latin surrounded each house. A basic description of the traits, nothing the books didn't cover. This place was weird, I picked up a green leather bound textbook, I inhale a large breath and blow off the dust. Faint lettering could be made out, Good Slytherins this was an unusual title for a book so I opened it. Inside where names of people, the first one written down was Merlin, followed by thousands of others. I turned hundreds of pages before I reached the end. I turned back to the front and read the small passage I bypassed at first glance.

Hello, if you are reading this then you have found my book. This book belongs to me, well you now. Inside you will find names of people who were sorted into Slytherin, a bad stigma has always surrounded this house and can be heavily influenced on a young child's mind. That is why, I, Merlin of Slytherin House decided to create this book. Every name belonged to a person, a person who swore and bound themselves to never give in to the stereotypes. To never become what people have said we will become, to rise above and achieve much greater things. If you see names crossed out, then they failed. This book is bound by magic, if you are to write your name you are to make an oath. If you break this oath, then you shall forever remember it, an ever lasting scar will be placed on the part of your body you value most. A scar that reads, weak. Cruel I know, but after all I am only fifteen. Please, write your name in and make the oath, please rise beyond, save yourself.

-Merlin

I sat emerged in the text, reading over and over again, but to no avail did this ever catch up with me. I could not believe the book I have found, Leah was occupied looking at the Ravenclaw mural. I took out my ink pot and quill from my bag, I dipped my quill in and turned to the last name written. I wrote my name down, and put away my things, I decided to look through the names of people who never gave in. I stopped near the end, one name stood out, it was crossed out but still legible. It was Professor Snape's name, I could not believe he had promised this. I place the book in my bag and open the door. Leah follows and I waked out the tower and checked the time. Potions. Had we really been away that long, I descend to the dungeons whilst Leah went up to Transfiguration. I walked in a minuet before lesson started, I saw Hermione by herself so I went up to her and sat by her. She smiled so I smiled back, the other Slytherins looked disgusted, but I wasn't weak. Nor will I ever be.
