...Revelations...
...Part One...
Scottish Highlands - 2017
Aurora had read Patricks journal all night and by morning, she was exhausted. The journal was fascinating and she had not been able to put it down. However, one thing in the book had stood out. The symbol of the Royal Protective Order. She had seen this symbol before on a ring just like what was described in Patrick's journal and emblazoned on the cover. Her father had worn a ring just like it and so did Greg. Aurora realised she needed to tell her mother everything. Maybe not about the tunnels just yet, but definitely about the journal.
Eliza had left early for work and Aurora knew not to distract her while she was working. She had her breakfast and made her way to the castle, the journal in her bag. It was Saturday morning and her mother would be finished work in an hour. She sat in the library where she met her mother every Saturday morning when she finished. They usually went for walks along the beach, however today would be an inside day. Greg had many questions to answer.
Lady Grace wandered into the library noticing Aurora sitting in the window looking out.
"There you are Miss Aurora. Thought I might find you in here." Aurora smiled at Grace.
"Good morning Lady Grace. How are you this morning?" Grace smiled and sat down on the couch beside her.
"I am very well Miss Aurora. You on the other hand do not look well at all. Are you ill?" She asked concerned.
"Oh no, I'm fine. I was just up all night reading." Grace smiled.
"Well you should be sleeping. It keeps you youthful my dear. Look at me." She smiled as Aurora giggled.
"Lady Grace, I don't suppose you know where Greg is at the moment?" The castle was so large, it would take Aurora all day if she were to go in search of him.
"I could find out for you. Did you want to see him?" She asked smiling.
"Yes, I wanted to ask him a couple of questions about my dad. He and Greg grew up together and I think he is the only one with the answers I'm looking for."
"Then I shall find him and bring him to you." She stood and looked down at the little girl. She reminded her so much of someone she once knew. She smiled and left the room.
Eliza entered the library an hour later and sat next to Aurora.
"Sweetheart you look so tired." She ran her fingers over Aurora's face and shifted a strand of hair that had fallen in her eyes.
"I am. I have something I want to show you, but I'm just waiting on Greg to get here as well." Eliza looked confused.
"Is there a problem?" She asked Aurora.
"I don't think so, but I'm not sure. It all depends on what Greg has to tell us." Eliza's eyebrows shot up just as Lady Grace entered followed by Greg.
"Aurora, Lady Grace said you had some questions about your dad you wanted to ask me." Aurora stood and gestured towards the table. All three sat down except for Lady Grace, who stood back curious. Aurora looked her way wondering if she should ask her to leave. It felt rude asking the Lady of the castle to leave her own library. Aurora conceded that what she had to ask, would not be of interest to Lady Grace anyway. She looked at her mother and Greg who sat waiting for Aurora to speak. Aurora dug into her bag and pulled out the journal with the symbol on its cover. She placed it on the table facing Greg and just looked at him. Greg's eyes widened and Lady Grace came closer to the table to see what Aurora had put down in front of him.
