The shadow was of a muscular man. He was tall and thick. He'd hurt me if I let my guard down. I turn, quickly; my sweaty hair whips me in the face as I do so. I push my hair away and run down the hallway.

"Come back here!" His voice bellows after me. On the floor his shadow is casted; he's following me.

He hits the wall; I heard the plywood being broken. "I said 'come back here!'" A picture frame on the wall falls as I run past it. I run to my room, being cautious to close and lock the door. I go over and hide in front of my bed-side table and my bed, hoping I'll be safe there. His fist pounds on the door. I cringe and throw my hands into my hair. I close my eyes. He knocks on the door again, making the whole room seem to shake. I try to tell myself "he's not real, he's your imagination" but the constant pounding on my door distracts me. He broke the handle's lock. I hear the door open and his heavy footsteps cross the room. I reach over for my lamp. What would happen to this shadow if there was light? I tried to turn on the light, but just as it came on, the shadow yanks the lamp up and slams it against the ground, shattering the light bulb, leaving me in the dark with him.

"Kept on the inside and no sunlight, sometimes the shadow wins, but I wonder what would happen ..."
