My life was never easy. But can any one of us say that our lives were?

My life was a living hell, and I grew strong in this life.

I had a fucked up past and lots of issues, but none of that mattered anymore.

All that matters now is the flesh-eating freaks walking around and causing the human race to go extinct.

Sure I've got scars to show the horror of my past, but I don't have to cry about it.

Its either kill or be killed.

Two Weeks Earlier

"Clarity?!"

I let out a shaky breath as I looked over to see my father standing in the doorway. There was a rusted chain in his grasp, his fist white around it. This was his preferred method to beat me with. One that left scars littered all over me.

I had been yelled at enough that I knew why he did it. The words swam through my mind daily, and he made sure I never forgot them.

This time I had no idea why he was coming for me. Was it because of school? Did my grades not seem to meet his ridiculous standards?

At twenty-five I still can't escape this monster.

I wasn't here by choice, I was forced home for a break because of the disease that was going around and killing everyone.

My mind was too much in a daydream to realize that he had stalked towards me. I feel the chain hit my body before I'm all way back. White, hot pain sears down my back as he rears his arm back for another go. I fall to my knees, the pain still too much for me after all these years.

I couldn't keep putting up with this, I wasn't going to go through with this today. Not anymore. I was sick of being his fix for pain.

I pushed myself off the ground to stand in front of him, barely managing to keep myself up. His eyes widen in surprise. I never stood up to him, he made it be try clear that the punishment would be worse. Before he could lunge at me again, I reared back my fist and punched him in the jaw.

A flash of anger crossed his face as his arm started to move again. He wasn't going to let me get away with this, and I had to get out of here quick.

He took another threatening step towards me when suddenly someone started banging on the door. My father sent me a look that told me not to speak and went over to open the door.

He opened the door a smidge but was pushed open as this sickly looking man made his way inside.

My father balled his fist. "Get the hell out of my house!"

My father screamed as the man suddenly lunged forward and bit his julgar. I stood there in shock as the man pushed my father to the floor and took a big bite out of his neck.

When I took a step back did the man look back up at me with blood dripping down his face. He stood up and started walking towards ME.

Wasn't my father good enough to eat? He was fat enough to feed anyone for days!

I backed as far as I could until I hit the back desk. "Hey, hey. Take it easy man. What is your problem?"

As soon as I said those words he lunged forward. I quickly looked to see it there was anything I could defend myself when I saw a screwdriver. I took one step and pushed a screwdriver through his head just as he came at me.
