Part 107

“I’m not talking to you,” I tell Emma, her feet moving towards me as I approach my dorm room door.

“Where were you? And why are you dressed like that?” she asks, my dress still on my body and my hands carrying my heels.

“Harry’s. And I went out with him last night.”

Her jaw clenches and walks closer to me. “Beth, I told you that he’s bad news. You’ll be sorry if he hurts you.”

“How the hell will he hurt me? You were so happy when I pointed him out at the soccer game and now you’re all angry that he’s apparently in my life again? What the hell is wrong with you?” I say, unlocking my door.

“Nothing. I’m absolutely fine because I know you’ll come crawling back to me one day and you will be sorry. He’s done shit to you, some things you don’t even remember.”

“I don’t remember anything!” I yell. She smiles and I almost can’t believe her. My friend of 17 years is making me leave a boy who makes me feel like I have someone.

“Then you don’t know what he was going to ask you the day of the accident. And I intend to keep it that way,” she says, walking away before I have the chance to ask her.

He was going to ask me something? What could it be?

After walking into my dorm and pulling off my dress, I shower and put on some jeans and a tee. Grabbing my laptop, I turn it on and search for the mall, wanting to go and get some new dresses and tops.

My hand grabs my keys and my bag, walking out of the dorm and down the hall. I call a taxi and get in, the man driving me to the mall. Once there, I pay the man and walk into the mall. I walk into multiple stores and buy some tops and dresses, happy with the items I bought. My body sits in the food court, drinking a hot chocolate and playing on my phone. A message pops up from Harry and I smile.

H: Hi beautiful :)

My lips smile and I pull up my messages, typing to him.

B: Hi Harry

H: What are you doing right now?

B: The mall :) Bought some stuff

His reply is funny, not liking that I spent money on myself.

H: Are you alone?

B: Yes. Why?

H: Shit Beth. Stay there. I’m coming to pick you up.

I laugh and stay on the phone, playing some random game that I don’t understand. A few minutes later a new message from Harry pops up,

H: Where are you? I’m here.

B: Food Court. Do you want some food? On me?

He sends me an angry face and I laugh, waiting for him to find me. I sip my hot chocolate and scroll through my barely existent Facebook feed.

“Bethany, you can’t be unsupervised in a mall,” Harry groans, sitting across from me.

“Don’t call me that Harold,” I scold, his lips curved in a smile, “And I’m not a child.”

“Yes, but you seem to attract idiots.” I raise my eyebrows at him and he laughs.

“Me not included.” I laugh and he smiles, leaning across the table and kissing my cheek, a deep blush appearing on my cheeks.

“You see that guy over there,” he whispers, leaning over the table closer to me and nodding his head for me to look behind him. I look over and see a huge guy, big muscles and his dark brown eyes staring at me.
