ARDI’s POV:

I grabbed the key and opened my room. I just got here from home, to think that I have classes today. Naginsist pa kasi si lola na magstay ako until Sunday. Nag request kasi si Dad ng off nung Sunday. Said he wants to relax a bit. We had a barbeque party on a Sunday afternoon and the ambiance around us is somewhat so familial. I had fun. That is because Grandma is there, that’s why it is somehow fun.

I grabbed the towel from the terrace and head to the shower room. I had a pleasant bath. After a while I get dressed and goes to my bed. Ah. Life suddenly becomes the usual. I grabbed my phone and turned it on. This phone is off since Saturday afternoon.

I left it on my bedside table and grabbed a drink. My trash bin is full again. Full of empty cans. I grabbed the plastic bag and go down the 3rd floor. The trash collector can is placed on the 3rd floor, right before the stairs. As I was walking down, I saw the Yawning Orange Girl just got up the stairs and walks through her room. She noticed my presence and looked at me. I smiled at her and she shifted her eyes away, as if she saw nothing. The tip of my lips quirked up in amusement.

“Hi. Just got home from class?” I asked just to make sure she’s not mute.

“Yeah.” She said, getting something from her uniform’s pocket. There I noticed, she has the same uniform as I am which means we’re going on the same school.

“You’re studying at Vientirade University?” I asked still smiling. She looked at me with blank eyes and arched her left eyebrow. I get it. I just laugh a little and said “Do you remember me?” and points at my smiling face.

She finally gets the key from her pocket and opened her room. Before going inside, she looked at me again blankly and replied, “Nope” and she slammed the door.

I laughed in bemusement. I’ve never seen such a snob my entire life. And here I thought my looks would never ever been going to be ignored by anyone, whether it’s a boy or a girl. Let’s just take it that she’s not normal at all. I go up after I throw the plastic bag on the collector, smile still pasted on my lips.

I go to my bed and checked my phone. 36 messages. 14 missed calls.

34 messages from Lindsay, 1 from Reed, 1 from Miguel. I read the message from Reed and Miguel first.

Reed: Dude wer r u? aren’t u goinna class?

Miguel: Rid is a freak. U don’t hav 2 come, no classes 2day. Lazy teachers.

These two bastards are my friends since junior year, until now. It’s great to know that I didn’t missed class today. Kaya pala nakita ko yung Masunget kanina. No classes.

32 messages from Lindsay says: Babe, wats wrong? Pls call me. Now.

2 messages from her says: Look, Ill no longer pester u today. Sori for being makulit. I just missed u so much. Call me tomo pls? <3

She sure loves to flood my inbox. I smiled. Lindsay is my girlfriend, since middle school. Her family and mine are acquaintances, that’s why Ive known her since then. I fell in love with her the moment she speaks at me. She was the first friend I ever had. She talks so much, very jolly, and very visible. She cries whenever she’s in pain. She laughs whenever she’s happy. Life is simple for her, despite the fact that she lost her Mom and Dad when she was just 5 years old. Her aunt raised her and educates her until now. She’s studying in Paris right now, with her aunt and uncle. She used to attend on Vientirade University with me until last year and flew to Paris. She said she wants to go very much, so I let her. Though a part of me doesn’t want that.

I tap the call button and wait for her to answer. 2 seconds and there she was.

“Babe!” she squirmed. I chuckled.

“Hey you.”

“Why are you so sungit the last day and youre not picking up your phone yesterday?!”

“Sorry if I yelled at you the last day. Just had a little unpleasanties with my aunt. Sorry I didn’t picked up the phone yesterday, we had a barbeque party, Granny’s there so I have to seize the moment.”

“Aww. My boyfie’s having a bad and good time huh?” She said laughing.

“Yeah. How’s my girl?”

“Still as pretty as ever, you will never have a chance to cheat on me.” She said through her flirty laugh.

“Ahuh. I’ll just let your conceitedness pass today, big girl. When can I see my pretty girl then?”

“I don’t want to say. Bleh. You’ll be surprised when the time comes.”

“Im getting older here.” I teased.

“Just wait, ok, babe? Wait and we’ll be official. Im sorry if it takes a lot of time.”

“Im willing to wait.”

“I know you are. Im going to class now. Ill call you tomorrow. Bye Babe. I miss you and I love you.”

“I love you too, Bye.” And she ended the call.

Yes, we’re together. But we’re unofficial. Lindsay wants to explore everything until her last breath, I understand her. She was born to love everything around her, even those things she didn’t see. She always wants to try new things, and whenever she want’s something, she’s eager to get it and turns brighter and brighter in excitement. I don’t want to let her down just because I want her beside me. I can’t be that selfish. But I really want her here, with me.

I pushed away the thinking. It will just make my head hurt. I love her and she feels the same way. That’s enough.

I go to my kitchen and checked my fridge. Ive got nothing but canned drinks and beers. I’m out of other stocks. Its not like Im hungery or anything, so Ive decided to go down and walk for a bit. Ill buy groceries again. The last time I went to supermarket was just to buy a towel and toiletries.
