Apple Pie Life (Alex Danvers)

You've been dating Alex for several months and you ask her question.

You looked up from your book as your apartment door opened. She smiled at you lovingly and kissed your cheek. You smiled as she did, a light blush covering your cheeks. You marked your place with a random sheet of paper before following her into the kitchen. Technically it was a five foot walk, your apartment was small, but until seven months and thirteen days ago, it'd been just you around. 

"How was work?" She asked, knowing you almost always had the night shift. 

"Pretty good." You said and she smiled. "Can I ask you something?" 

"Yeah, I suppose." She said and you hopped onto your counter. 

"You've made it clear you want kids and I'm cool with that, but are you expecting the whole apple pie life with it?" You asked and she gave you a confused look. "You know, suburbs, white picket fence..." 

"Maybe." Alex said and you nodded. 

"Well... I hate the suburbs, but maybe we could find that nice middle ground." You said and Alex gave you a skeptical look. 

"Middle ground?" She asked and you nodded. "What is that?" 

"This." You said handing her your phone. "I talked to Lena and she said she'd sell her apartment and help with rent if needed." 

"This is amazing, but we can't do this." Alex said and you took a step closer to her. "I'm glad you found a safer apartment though." 

"Actually, I was wondering if this could be our apartment. Like, we live here together now, our little engagement rings, a kitchen, that great roommate that never sleeps." You said, not paying attention to the words that were coming out of your mouth. 

"Engagement rings?" Alex asked and you nodded. You turned and grabbed the ring that'd been sitting on your microwave for almost a month. You handed it to her and she looked at you, tears in her eyes. 

"Crap, I forgot to propose." You said and Alex laughed as she slipped on the ring. "I may or may not have gotten your ring size from Maggie at work." 

"Yes." Alex said kissing you. "Yes to it all." 

"Great, let's order takeout." You said and Alex looked at you seductively. 

"I can think of a better celebratory meal." Alex said and you blushed as you got the message before scrambling to your pullout couch/bed.
