Inspired by The Way She Feels by Between The Trees
__________
She closes her brown eyes, hoping the pain won't stay,
Taking out the sharpened blade, used to drive the pain away.
Anything, she thinks, to get away from all of this
She slices a clean cut, straight across her frail wrist.
The blood seeps through her long sleeved shirt
And she can't help but think of the hurt she's endured.
Her parents don't suspect a thing, and neither do her friends
If only they could see through the lens
of her hidden soul, covered my a smile.
She's been this way - this sad - for quite a while.
Even if they knew, they wouldn't even care.
This anger and pain is more than she can bear.
But she continues to cut, to slice away her fears
As she sits on the floor and drowns in her tears.
