Bright light....
That's all I saw when I opened my eyes along with hearing a repetitive beeping sound and then...voices.
'Where am I?'
My vision finally adjusted after a few moments of confusion, I looked around the room slowly, eventually realizing I was in a hospital room.
Voices could be heard out in the hall, the voices then turned into shouting, it sounded like the....sheriff?
"What do you mean he escaped?! He killed multiple people, and when we finally find him AND a survivor you let him slip through our fingers!! How did he get away?! Tell me!!!"
There was a moment of silence before anyone spoke.
"Through the woods sir, he ran and the other officers and I couldn't get any shots fired without endangering civilians"
"You. You and the rest of the team, sweep the woods again. Check every inch of the place. And Don't come back empty handed"
"Yes sir"
The sound of muffled footsteps startled me, the door clicked and opened slowly. The person whom I'm assuming to be the sheriff walked in quietly with his head down.
My lips quivered as I opened my mouth to speak.
"Sheriff?"
He looked up in brief surprise, seeming to be almost startled.
"Alexia, you're awake"
"I guess so, what's going on? Who got away?"
"Alexia, the man that murdered your friend and nearly killed you... escaped last night"
In that moment I feared for my life more than ever before.
