Silence.
"I'm waiting for your answer miss." I said calmly to the third person I was interviewing,I needed more workers in the restaurant.
"Well...uhmm...uhmm...I...I..."
"Enough!" I said cutting her off, since she came she has just been stuttering and looking intimidated.
"From what I've seen here you're an excellent chef, but you lack self- confidence," I said raising my eyes to meet her innocent looking ones.
" You see my dear,self-confidence is very important, most people are reluctant to back a project that's being pitched by someone who was nervous, fumbling, and overly apologetic.
On the other hand, you might be persuaded by someone who speaks clearly, who holds his or her head high, who answers questions assuredly, and who readily admits when he or she does not know something." I found myself getting into the whole talk"Confident people inspire confidence in others: their audience, their peers, their bosses, their customers, and their friends. And gaining the confidence of others is one of the key ways in which a self-confident person finds success.
The good news is that self-confidence really can be learned and built on. And, whether you’re working on your own confidence or building the confidence of people around you, it’s well-worth the effort! Two main things contribute to self-confidence: self-efficacy and self-esteem"After my whole speech on self-confidence, I could see the nineteen year old battling with herself on what to say.
"Thank you very muchma'am, I guess I really needed this." she spoke with tears in her eyes.
I frowned, I didn't really think my speech was deep,I just get so carried away whenever I end up giving one. And I also believe in girl power so it gets really personal when there's a female involved.
"Oh it's nothing dear, and I will like you to have this." I said removing the little book I always carried with me from my bag,it contained an article written by the mind tools book club.
Collecting the book with shaky hands and thanking me as if I just bought her a plane ticket to Paris.
I sighed and then said "I think this is all for now,we'll get back to you." she nodded and stood up to leave but not without thanking me again.

"We're finally done here!" Rabi'at,the head chef exclaimed while sipping her honey strawberry smoothie.
"I know right," I replied stretching my arms."I had no idea this much people were going to show up." I added lazily.
After interviewing twenty people, a girl had the right to be tired.
A man who supposedly needed work because he was dying of lung cancer at the critical stage,I swear he looked very very healthy.
An elderly woman who said if I gave her the job I'd get married to my handsome boyfriend in the next two months.
Please who told that woman I had a boyfriend!
"Let me finish compiling the names of the ones we chose." she said turning her attention back to the papers on the table.
I nodded and then walked to the kitchen, my stomach was growling considering I'm a certified foodie. The chef in charge smiled brightly at me.
"Abdul-Hakim I'm starving o!" I sat on a long kitchen stool and proudly let my feet dangle.
"I wanted to bring you food but I didn't want to disturb the interview." He smiled shyly at me and began to dish out the plantain porridge.
"How does it taste?" He asked expectantly as he watched me fetch some into my mouth,it tasted superb but I won't tell him that.
"Eh it taste Ok though" His expression changed and he immediately looked sad,I wanted to laugh.
Abdul-Hakim has been crushing on me for long,it was obvious to everyone around.
I brought out my phone from my bag,I knew if Sadiya had been here she would freak out, being the person she is,her phone was always with her anywhere she went and expected others to be the same.
10 missed calls from Nna.
I wondered why I had so many missed calls from mum,she never called this much. She was one of those types that would call you once and never call back if you missed it.
And if she was calling me like this then it meant something happened with my dad because today was the day she was supposed to go and see him.
Dialing her number, she picked immediately as if she had been waiting for the call and began talking, "I NEED YOU TO COME BACK HOME RIGHT NOW,THERE'S NEWS!"
