It was late at night and I was absolutely bored out of my mind. It was a Saturday night and I had homework to do for the upcoming Monday. Graduation was in only a couple of weeks, so I had to do my best, but it didn't make the homework any easier. I was scrolling through pages of information on the subject I was studying when my phone buzzed. I picked up the phone and slid the answer key over only to hear my frantic friend on the line.
"I need to talk to you" her voice came through, shaky. She'd been crying. I groaned and told her I'd be on my way shortly. Probably boyfriend problems, again. I stood up straightening my pajamas and slipping a hoodie over my pajama top. I walked out of my room, maneuvering around the living room furniture as quietly as possible to keep from waking my parents up. I made my way out of the front door, closing it gently and turning the lock. As I made my way down the porch steps I heard a slight rustle. I did a quick once over the entire surrounding area only to find a small stray cat roaming around in the bushes.
"Go away!" I whispered loudly at the cat and it scanted off in another direction. I barely made it into the street when I noticed I was being followed. I immediately broke into a sprint, but it was almost as if I wasn't moving at all. The figure was following me and the shadow he cast seemed to get closer and closer, gracefully trailing behind me almost merging with my own shadow. I ran even faster, but he was quicker. A tall, lean dark-headed man stared back at me, stopping me in my tracks. I could tell even in the dim light from the street lamps that he was gorgeous. One of the most gorgeous things I'd ever laid eyes on. I knew I should have ran, but I couldn't. I stared mindlessly into his eyes and he into mine, digging directly into my soul it seemed.
"Why are you following me?" I managed, blinking my eyes quickly and looking over his shoulder to avoid eye contact. He only stared at me, an intense stare. I shook my head and walked past him, continuing to sprint towards my destination, figuring it was only a hooligan prowling the streets looking to bother anyone who passed him. And then hands fell on my shoulders, stopping me once again. His hands were cold, even through the sweater. They were the kind of cold that sent shivers up your spine, the menacing kind that made you quake immediately.
"Let me go! I have pepper spray" I shouted sternly, turning to face him and trying the shake the hands on my shoulder away. I shoved my hands in my pocket trying to look as threatening as possible.
"You're not going to use that on me, now are you?" He said, a slight grin on his face. He was staring into my eyes again, piercing my soul.
"No, of course not... here" I said mindlessly, handing him the small can from my pocket. I stumbled in my mind trying to control my own body and words, but there was a force hitting my brain, devouring it and making my brain it's own.
"Thank you. Now, this will be a lot easier if you don't struggle. I won't hurt you if you listen to me and follow my orders." He said simply, not breaking eye contact for a second "Do you understand me?"
"Y-y-yes" I stuttered out, my voice not my own. I was shaking inside, trying to control my own words, body, trying to tell him off, but to no avail. He had complete control over me. How? I didn't know.
"Good... good girl. What is your name?" He smiled, holding my face in his hands. They were cold and rough, and I didn't want them anywhere near me. I could see his eyes daze over as he made contact with my skin. Anger, hate, lust, I could point those emotions out clearly through his eyes. It was only when my phone buzzed that he broke out of the daze. He pulled my phone from my hoodie pocket and threw it on the ground, finally breaking contact as he stomped on it, sending shattered pieces of glass everywhere. And that was when I had my chance. I broke into a dead-run back in the opposite direction, running towards my house and fumbling for my keys at the same time. I was fast, I took track several times, but I wasn't as fast as whatever he was. He had me in his arms before I set foot in my front lawn.
"Let me go! Let me go now!" I shouted, struggling in his arms, clawing at his hands. Tears were started to fill my eyes "Please let me go! I won't tell anyone about what happened!
"No, you definitely won't" He growled, holding me tight, constricting air. "Now stay still!"
"Please..." I let out, gasping for air. He loosened his grip, but he didn't let go of me. The next thing I knew I was being scooped up in his arms and the city was passing me by. The air felt like it was being pulled from my lungs every second we went on. He was running. I couldn't even tell in which direction now. In a matter of what seemed like about three minutes we were in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. We were at a complete stop and he didn't seem tired at all. I didn't have a clue where we were or what we were doing here, but I took note of my surroundings anyway. Black-iron fence, a tall mansion that looked like it'd definitely seen better days, a dark concrete sidewalk leading directly away from the fence, and a large yard filled with weeds and dead wildflowers. He sat me on my feet, but didn't let go of me before doing the mind control thing once again.
"You will stay at my side. You will not try to run. You will not try to fight me" He chanted "And you will listen to me or you will die. I do not want to hurt you."
"Yes sir" I nodded back. He started towards the gate and pushed a few numbers on a lock before it let open and we made our way inside the mansion. The inside was a lot nicer than the outside. The walls were painted crimson and the drapes were a silky black. A white fur carpet laid out on part of what seemed to be the living room and the rest of the floor was a dark wood, freshly polished. A tall spiraling staircase was directly right of the door we'd just entered.
"Sit" He ordered, pointing towards the sofa in the living room. I did as I was told and he joined me, sitting beside me and taking my hand. I shrugged it off, letting the slight control I had over myself emit. He merely threw me an annoyed look. "Now, since we're being civil, what is your name?"
"Alissa" I replied simply, sitting on the sofa, my body still shaking with what control I did retain.
"Ah... Alissa. Beautiful name." He complimented, staring at me like I was a juicy steak "Now tilt your head to the side..."
I did as I was told and a pair of lips grazed my neck gently, kissing it softly as his hand took mine forcefully. No. Stop. What are you doing? Take control! I screamed at myself as the stranger kept on, my body deceiving me, taking pleasure out of the things happening. After awhile my body took control, flooding with emotions at what he was doing. I didn't like it, but my body didn't know that, and my body deceived me once more when I wrapped my arm around him. I let out a small moan directly before the kissing stopped. It stopped and was replaced with something else. Teeth. I felt sharp fangs piercing my neck instead of the gentle kisses I was feeling before.
"Stop! Y-you're hurting me" I muttered out, trying to put force into my voice, but he didn't stop, he didn't even twitch. I cried, trying to get away, I knew I couldn't, but I would try anyway. I was getting weaker. Too much blood was being taken. I jerked once more before going limp. The darkness was swirling towards me, and I welcomed it.

VampireHonestly, I didn't really like vampires. I didn't believe in them either. I wasn't into all the twilight crap and sparkly vampires like most of the other female population. I didn't really know about them either, I knew they were blood-thirsty evil...
