After the incident that happened earlier that night the brothers decided that it'd be a good idea to keep me constricted as the night progressed to day. They told me I'd be staying here at least another day before they carried out the mission given by their father. They had me cuffed to a bed, and although my eyes tried to close due to lack of sleep and the fluffiness of the bed, I didn't let them, so this gave me all the time in the world to think about the events of earlier that night. My biggest question wasn't what they had in store for me - although it should have been, even though I was slightly already sure - it was what are they? They drink blood. They're fast. They're strong. They seem to be able to control minds. Even if I wasn't very vampire educated I knew those were typical vampire qualities.
"Vampire..." I whispered to myself softly. It sounded unreal, the word rolling from my lips. I didn't want it to be real either. If I could have pinched myself I probably would have. It felt like a dream, save for the slight pain in my wrists from the cuffs that were tightly restraining me to the metal bed frame. Instead I settled for repeating the word until it sounded almost alien.
"Alissa?" I heard a soft voice coming from the doorway. A familiar one, Russell I thought. I pulled on the cuffs until I came into a painful sitting position before finally replying.
"Whose there?" I asked in a normal tone. I knew it was one of those "vampire" things, and I also knew from what little I had read about them that they were ALWAYS bad news. The vampire let himself in and it turned out to be Russell as I suspected.
"We need to get you out of here..." He whispered, tracing the cuffs on my wrists, causing me to jump slightly "you are much too young to die..."
"Funny, I was just thinking the exact same thing. But you see... there's a small issue." I replied, pulling on the cuffs gently, a grin pulling on the left side of my lips. I'd always been the kind of person who could be sarcastic in any situation, and this one didn't seem to be an exception. "I'm kind of stuck"
"I'm getting you out of here." He said, determination in his voice, ignoring my sarcasm and the snarky look on my face. I hated him, but a sort of kindness radiated off him that didn't off of the others. His eyes traced the chains around my wrists before he came to the side of the bed and took them between his hands, rolling the links between his fingers before snapping them with seemingly little effot. Strength, I whispered to myself. Vampire.
"The others-" I started quietly.
"It's almost sunrise. They're asleep." He answered, pulling me up by my hands frantically "We have to hurry."
"Are you a-" I started, looking down at my wrists that were starting to turn slightly purple from the firmness of the chains.
"Stop asking questions. Let's go." He interrupted, turning towards to doorway. His brother was leaned against the doorway smirking, the smirk that I already knew was his signature look.
"Go where?" He asked. He just had that snarky asshole look smeared all over his face, that "I'm better than you" look that made my stomach clench with hate.
"Somewhere" Russell said, pushing past his brother. I followed him, and so did Dimitri. "Somewhere without you"
"Alright, but she's staying." Dimitri said, grabbing my arm and pulling me against him. I shivered at his touch and tried to shrug his hand off. Last time I'd been this close to him he'd had his fangs in my neck.
"She's not dying anytime soon Dimitri. She's barely eighteen. She has so much life ahead of her. Just because we had our humanity taken away so soon doesn't mean she deserves the same fate." Russell argued, a slightly sad look on his face.
"That was always your problem brother, humanity." Dimitri laughed, touching Russell's cheek gently, still holding onto my upper arm tightly. "We're immortal. A bit of blood on our hands won't make an impact."
"Everything makes an impact Dimitri. Everything." Russell furrowed his eyebrows "I know there's humanity inside of you somewhere brother."
"Humanity?" Dimitri laughed, pushing me against the wall by my neck. "I could pull her spine out through her behind and go on as if it didn't happen. Do you call that humanity, brother?"
"Let go of her" Russell demanded, looking genuinely afraid for my welfare. "She doesn't have to die yet."
"See brother, you were always fathers favorite. Perfect little Russell, nice, smart, obedient... You would do anything for that man, you'd do anything he told you to. You're too scared to rebel, break the rules. Poor, innocent Russell. And then there's me. The older one who breaks all the rules, ruins everyone's lives, rebels against everything..." Dimitri ranted, madness in his voice "the one who had to do all of fathers dirty work. And for what, his hatred? He hates me. You hate me. I know I'm evil and so are you, I just embrace it. Because why run from yourself, brother, we are thousands of years old."
"Dimitri. Father doesn't hate you, nor do I. I love you, and I know there is good in you. I know there is a part of you that doesn't want to do these things." Russell assured, sadness filling his ocean-blue eyes.
"Always trying to see the good in people. Brother, you truly are a laugh." Dimitri smirked, turning towards me and gripping my neck tightly. I struggled for air and the hold only got tighter. The world seemed to come to a slight daze and my eyes were beginning to close, my hearing fading slowly although I could hear Russell shouting seemingly from a distance. I took one last gasp for air before my body gave in and fell at its weight and the swirling darkness came back to me with a jolt. Was I dead? Would the last thing that I would see be the face of evil?
Sadly, no, I wasn't.

VampireHonestly, I didn't really like vampires. I didn't believe in them either. I wasn't into all the twilight crap and sparkly vampires like most of the other female population. I didn't really know about them either, I knew they were blood-thirsty evil...
