(( This index is a bit more confusing than it is on my google doc. For now, I'll just add the major characters and places.  As each chapter comes out, I will update this section as well (to avoid too many spoilers).  I'm working on it, sorry for any inconvenience!))

People

Humans

Humans in this time period are not technologically advanced, though they are discovering more and more every day.  Their level of civilization is much like that of the vikings (imagine vikings without boats.) Humans (typically) have no magical abilities, and they live in small villages around the forest.

Ylva (Pronunciation like a mix between ulvah and eelvah), a rambunctious girl raised by wolves. Her hair is a light blond color, and her eyes are amber colored.  She is very skilled with a bow, and although she can speak to animals, she has little to no magical abilities. Her name is a Scandinavian form of Icelandic Úlfa, meaning "she-wolf."  Star is a very calm and gentle person. She is introverted, shy, and softspoken, yet throughout the story she learns to voice her opinions and speak up for herself. Star's hair is long and dark. It seems to sparkle like stars at various points in time. Her eyes are green, with silver speckles in them.   Star is very in tune with nature, and has extensive knowledge of plantlife. She is also skilled with her daggers, yet she uses them only for defense and practical uses.  Star has immense magical powers,  so much that people often wonder if she's even human. Wolves

The wolves in Ylva's pack are actually a special species of wolf- they are descendants of the wolf god Fenrir, and have Fenrir's mighty blood running through their veins. They can speak the language of humans, gods, and animals, and many others, for their knowledge is great. These wolves are six tall when standing, and because of their size they can run at blinding speed. They are among the most feared creatures of the forest, and outside the forest, as well, and for good reason; it is up to them to protect the source of the forest's magic.

Charr: The younger and smaller of Ylva's two wolf friends. His fur is a dusty gray color, like charred wood, hence his name. Charr loves adventure, and is a very curious wolf. His curiosity makes him wiser, but also gets him into trouble quite often. It is usually Ylva that saves him.

Chase: The older and larger of Ylva's wolf friends. His fur is a dark gray color, with honey colored eyes. His name comes from his fast speed, which is second to none. Thanks to this speed, he is one of the top hunters in the pack.

Lyall: Lyall's name is a unisex name from the Old Norse personal name Liulfr, meaning "shield wolf." Lyall is the leader of Ylva's wolf pack. Lyall's gender is unknown- the wolf's personality seems to rise above that of "male" or "female" to a very ethereal attitude. Lyall is respectfully referred to as 'they' by the rest of the pack, even the children, who can't quite understand how a wolf could lack a gender. Lyall can act both as a loving mother to their pack, or a stern father- both roles seem to fit perfectly. Lyall is referred to as "White Wolf" due to their gleaming white fur. The fur catches rays of light that would normally give them away on hunts, yet somehow this wise wolf is the greatest hunter of the pack- their stealthiness is second only to Gerwulf, the pack's deputy. Lyall's eyes are ice blue, and seem to pierce through thoughts and feelings.
