Ever since the night where Felicity burned me, Ethan has been over the top with his protectiveness. He was waiting for me every time I left a class so he could walk me to the next one, or he would be closely watching me train, making sure not a hair on my head was hurt. And when we weren't in classes, he would be at my side, touching me in some way as if to assure himself that I was okay.
It was both cute and really annoying.
I wanted to punch his face, then kiss him senseless.
Okay, so maybe he wasn't the only one who had changed in these past two weeks.
That night, after we got back from the healers, he brought me to my room. He didn't let me go all night and couldn't keep his lips to himself either. Not that I was complaining, but I also won't ever admit to him that if he had pulled away, I probably would've pulled him right back.
He was so close to marking me that night, but he had stopped, saying that he wanted it to be perfect.
I scoffed, shaking my head at the memory. Silly boy won't understand that I don't want it to be perfect. If it's perfect then there's no story to tell besides the ones that are so disgustingly romantic, and everyone had heard those before. I want our story to be unique.
Anyways, it is safe to assume that the bond has grown. As annoyed as I get with him being so close all the time, I also miss him when he isn't by my side. Not to mention that whenever we are together and it's just the two of us, our mouths are mysteriously always too busy to do any talking.
I blame the bond for that.
As of right now, I'm sitting in Lottie's and Ilisa's room. Ethan was surprisingly not here, but the weird feeling in my chest told me that he wasn't far away. Probably trying to give me some space, but not wanting to be too far away in case something were to happen. I rolled my eyes. As if Lottie or Ilisa would hurt me or let anyone else hurt me.
Speaking of those two, they were currently begging me to do some "magic tricks".
"Guys, for the last time, I don't know how I did it. It just happened."
Lottie frowned at me and crossed her arms. "But if you don't know how to control it, how did it respond so perfectly to you?"
I shrugged. "Hell if I know."
"Do you think maybe it was some sort of self defense reaction?"
Lottie looked over at Ilisa, then they both simultaneously turned their heads back to look at me. My spine stiffened and I sat up straighter. Based off of the vibes I was currently receiving, maybe I should reconsider them never hurting me.
They were in front of me the next second and I was pulled to my feet. "Sorry about this, Maya. Just gotta check our theory."
"What are you-" I was cut off as they hurled my body out of the window.
The glass shattered around me and wind whipped at my body. I was too shocked to make any noise. Not to mention that any noise I would've made would be torn away by the raging winds surrounding me. My arms flailed around me as I free fell from the top of the girl's dorm tower.
The ground that looked so far away was getting closer and my heart started pounding in my chest. My stomach flew into my throat and I started to feel dizzy. A familiar fogginess of my vision alerted me to the fact that the Moon Goddess was checking in on me.
NO!
The scream echoed around my head and tore its way out of my throat.
Then everything went black.
