Harry woke suddenly, he had fallen asleep into the arm chair at his mom's with his phone in his hand. She hadn't called last night, or text him. He had waited up most of the night hoping she would get in touch with him but she didn't. He had managed to get hold of Louis, but Jess's phone was going straight to answer phone. He immediately dialled out on his own phone.
"hello?" Louis groggy voice answered
"is she there??" Harry asked anxiously.
"no mate, I've even been out looking for her, she never got here..."
"Louis were going to have to ring the police..."
"I think your right, it's been over twelve hours she should have been here by now..." Louis voice faltered "Harry I'm so sorry..."
"Louis, it's not your fault, even if you told her not to come, she would have anyway"
"who's going to ring the police?"
"I will, and I'll pass them your details, just keep in touch Louis ok?"
"yeah, sure mate... And I'll phone the others, see if she has turned up there..."
"thanks Lou" said Harry, before hanging up. He sat in the chair for a while and tried to feel something. He wasn't even panicking, he just felt numb. Why didn't he insist in going with Jess? The roads were icy, she had no idea where she was going, he was too wrapped up in his own feelings that he had let he go, without even saying goodbye properly. Louis was his best friend, and Jess was his girlfriend. He knew that the relationship between them was purely platonic, but he couldn't help feel a pang of jealousy when he knew that she was leaving him for Louis. And now, she was missing.
"Any news?" Harry's mother asked, coming out of the kitchen bringing a mug of tea in with her.
Harry shook his head, taking the mug from her "I'm going to ring the police mom she still hasn't turned up at louis"
An hour later, Harry's family home was entertaining two police officers, and he was explaining the goings on of the last twelve hours to them over and over. Not that he was any help, he suddenly realised how whirlwind that his and Jess's relationship really was. He knew that she was from Tring, but that was about it, he had no contact number for her family, he knew that she owned a white Volvo XC60, but didn't know the registration number. He could however Map every inch of her body in the description. Her face had been etched in his memory ever since he realised she hadn't arrived at Louis' house, and his phone. Hadn't stopped ringing. he just hoped wherever Jess was, she knew that she was loved by lots of people, and that she had alot of people worried.
"Mr.Styles" one of the police officers said, placing down his phone he had just been on, down on the table "there's been a development, a white XC60 has been involved in a collision near Oxford, a white female matching the description has been pulled out and is in hospital"
"which hospital?" Harry frantically asked.
"I'm afraid, I can't tell you, until we know it's definately Miss. Payne in the car, I can't tell you anymore know information"
"her real name is Miss. Magee, Jess Magee, she just calls herself payne"
"we'll keep you informed"
"so what?" Harry snapped "your going to keep me here while she's stuck in a hospital bed on her own?"
"If this is Miss. Payne, she's safe, we're going to keep looking for line of enquiries, we will be getting back to you Mr. Styles"
"I'll let you out officer" Anne said, leading the policemen out, Harry just didn't understand, why wouldn't they tell him where she was? He slammed his fist down on the table, causing Gemma to Jump.
"Harry" she said "she will be ok"
"If she's ok, why is she not answering her phone Gem!!"
"Harry!" Harry turned around too see his mother standing in the door way, she looked stern, her brow furrowed "this is not your sisters fault!"
"no it's mine!" he said "I should never have let her go!"
He walked straight into Anne's arms, and began to sob. Harry knew there was something wrong, he knew Jess, and he knew that she would never put him or the others through this. She had no reason to just up and leave, they were happy, she was changing, she was beginning to get her life back, and he loved her, he hadn't told her yet, but was in live with her. From the moment he had spotted her across the room, he knew that she was the one. He had fully intended on taking it slow, but he found that he just couldn't keep away, especially when he thought that she was getting close with Liam. He found that jealousy ran through his body, his chest tightened everytime he saw them together, a little like it did when she was with Louis, and he wanted to go kicking and screaming when she said she was leaving to help Louis, but he didn't, and he should have, he should have stopped her, but he didn't.
He pulled away from his mom's embrace and smiled at his sister, muttering an apology before making his way out to the yard. He saw Benji pop his head over the stable door, he flapped his big ears back and forth, swaying his head from side to side. Harry reached up and scratched behind his cheek bones, feeling Benji lean into him. Jess suddenly snatched his head away and bolted to the back of his stables as the high pitched sound of Harry's ringtone echoed through his stable. Harry fished in his pocket, and pulled out the phone. JESS flashed across his screen, he felt relief flood over him as he smiled across the screen to answer it.
"Jess" he breathed "Jess, where the hell are you, we've phoned the police, when you didn't turn up at Louis' we were worried..."
"Harry..." she began, Harry could hear in her voice she was trying to hold back the tears "I can't do this anymore"
"what do you mean?"
"I cant do this anymore, it's too much the lying, the hiding, the bedlam, I'm just a little girl from Tring, I'm not made for this big stage... And you can't keep hiding me forever..."
"Jess, I'm confused are you okay? They said they found a white Volvo..."
"nope Harry, it's not mine... I'm gone, I'm not coming back... I'm sorry"
"what, what do you mean"
"Harry, I'm sorry... It's over... I'm done, don't try to find me, it's better for you and the boys, if we just get a clean break..."
"but Jess... I love..." but he never got chance to finish, Jess had already hung up...
