Yawning, I opened my eyes to the white ceiling of my room. I frowned, annoyed. It was the first day of school, again. After debating whether it was too late to go back to bed, I sat up and stretched. I rolled out of bed and automatically made my bed, not caring that it was sloppy. Stretching, I noticed Neils multi-colored hair peeking out from under the blankets of his bead. I shook my head and marveled at the fact that he was still sleeping against the sound of rain against the window. I yanked back the curtains and stared out the window, but when I caught a look at myself in the reflection, I frowned again.
I closed the curtains and stalked to the bathroom, grabbing a wad of clothes from the dresser as I went. I got dressed quickly and felt my way over to the sink. I grabbed my bag from underneath and took out my contact case. I popped in the contacts, then blinked as my eyes focused. Next I put on my makeup. When I looked in the mirror, I smiled. I pulled my hair back halfway, leaving some curls down my back. I blinked again, still sometimes caught off guard by my eyes. They were startlingly green against my jet black hair. I walked back into my room after shoving my bag back under the sink, and rolled my eyes when I saw Neils was still in bed. I sat on my bed and thought how Neils had first came into my family. He had just been kicked out of his house, when it had caught on fire. We had been friends since he first moved here, and my parents took him into our house and, well, the rest was pretty obvious. I stood up again, then walked downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a packs of Pop-Treats and started eating one. I packed up my stuff for school, then checked the time.
"Neils! Hurry up or you'll miss the bus!" I yelled as I shouldered my backpack. Neils bounded down the stairs, a smile on his face. "Pleasant dreams?" I asked playfully.
"Oh, shut up." he said, running out the door. Shaking my head, I ran after him in the rain.
