{umm... minor star wars spoiler ahead. but really minor.}
Tara Rayes
I don't know how this happened but... here we are.
Doing a Star Wars marathon and watching all those movies in one day.
Yes, we are crazy.
"I knew it! It was so obvious that she would fall for him," I exclaim, looking at Anakin and Padme on the big wall. "I mean, who wouldn't fall for him. He's handsome."
Both of the twins faces turn towards me. Grayson's on the left couch, his body comfortably stretched out on the soft material. Ethan's to my right, having the couch for himself as well. After a long fight and me having the best arguments the boys gave in to me having the middle couch; the hugest of them all.
They're sweethearts. Most of the time.
"I'm handsome, too!" Grayson suddenly shoots out, throwing his hands in the air. He's on his side now, propped up on one arm.
"If anything you mean we are handsome. We look the same, bro," Ethan casually calls in, laying on his back, hands behind his head. His eyes are still on the wall while Grayson's are on me.
"Tara!" He insists. Hell. What's wrong with him?
"Chill," I reply, not moving a finger. "Why do you need confirmation? Where did your confidence go?"
Grayson is speechless as he looks at me. Slowly, he leans back. "You're right. I don't need confirmation. I know I'm handsome."
Ethan and I start to laugh and Grayson joins us. Soon enough nobodys attention applies to the adventures of Anakin anymore and we're just joking around.
"You know, this is such a good movie and you keep ruining it," Ethan says in between the contagious laughter of Grayson and me. I feel slightly bad because I really wanted to see the movies but honestly ... Grayson's the source of my distraction.
"Oh, sorry," I whisper sarcastically and laugh some more.
"Ethan, you know, you sho-" Grayson stops in his sentence as all of a sudden as all the lights go off. Star Wars stops playing and the room is completely dark, since there are no windows in here.
"What the hell?"
"What happened?"
"I don't know, guys. Let's check the main switch." Ethan suggests and I hear him standing up from his couch.
"But we can't see the way," Grayson counters and everything is silent. "Ethan?"
"Ethan?" I ask as well. Nobody makes a sound and panic grows inside of me.
"I'm here. Grayson's right. We need light," Ethan approves and I struggle to see anything. I try to at least make out their silhouettes but we're in complete darkness. "Um, okay. You both stay here and I'll go to the main switch and see if I can bring the power back."
"Are you sure? Do you want to go alone?" I ask concerned. Who knows why the power's gone?
"Yes. Just stay here and wait," he answers with certainty. I nod until I realize that he can't see me.
"Okay," I simply murmur and don't move. Noises of footsteps and crushing things are heard, then the footsteps become quieter and quieter.
"Grayson?" I whisper into the darkness.
"Yes," he immediately answers and I can make out that his voice is definetly much closer than before.
"Where are you?"
"Right here," with his words his hands touch my sides, "I got you."
I jump slightly at the contact, not prepared for his touch. I haven't heard him move at all.
"Do you have night vision goggles or something?" I laugh and instantly relax. I have to admit that his presence beside me makes me much less nervous.
He laughs along with me and we stand in silence. Out of the blue he pulls me in a hug, wrapping his strong arms around me. I'm completely engulfed in him, as if he was a giant plush teddy bear.
My heart begins to race as I wrap my arms around his back. It feels good, to be honest. I haven't had a hug in forever.
I feel tears forming in my eyes and a sudden sentimentality overcomes me. Whyever, exactly in this moment.
Just a simple hug, Tara. No need to tear up, I tell myself, and a tear escapes my eye.
Grayson lets go of me a bit and runs his hands up to my face. Soon enough his hands cup my face from both sides and I melt into his warm skin.
He probably noticed the single tear and wipes his thumb over my cheek. And in the next second I feel his lips pressing softly against mine.
I can't react right away. Firstly, because of the darkness, every move of his is unexpected and startling. On top of that I am emotionally in a state of sadness and he caught me off guard with that.
Still without comprehending what's happening his lips stay on mine, no movement, nothing. Our lips are simply touching while he holds me close. Before I can acknowledge the kiss he pulls away and rests his forehead against mine.
"I've been wanting to do that for so long." And as though by chance the power turns back on the second he finishes his sentence.
"Yes! It worked. I did it, guys," we hear Ethan cheering and jogging down the hall.
I immediately push Grayson away from me and look towards the door, seeing Ethan come in. "Are you guys alright? You look -"
"Yeah, we're good," Grayson cuts him off.
"Great job," I smile at Ethan, "now we can get back to my handsome Anakin."
I turn away from both of them and just pray to God that they haven't seen the obvious blush on my face.
