It took a while, but I had finally reached the door of the large wooden shack. I was reluctant to knock, because who knew what was in there? It was plain stupid. Maybe I could creep in somehow...

It was risky, but it had to be done. Shelter and protection was a must if I am to survive. I quietly opened the door, flinching when it creaked open loudly. At that moment, I had seriously considered turning back. But I had gotten so far, there was no way I was giving up. Not yet. So I stepped in, not bothering to close the door. It was dark, to dark for comdort. Desperately I tried to locate a light switch, but of course that was too convienent. There was another doorway that led into a somewhat-lighter room. But then again, the illumination was coming from the window, and I didn't want to be seen. Not sure I could defend myself with a piece of paper. I snaked in to the room, being extra careful to be not in view of the window. My hands were trembling, and I shoved then into my pockets to hide them from myself. My bag was still slung over my shoulder, and I held onto the straps for comfort.

I internally screamed with each step, every single inch told me to turn back, to hide in the trees. But I couldn't. My feet lifted and went forward, despite my mind punching me and throwing a fit.

I had just taken another step when a crashing force threw me to the ground. A surprised yelp emerged from my lips as my leg scraped against the scraggy, wooden floor. I looked up in fear as the glaring eyes of Atsuhiko Ito seared holes through my head. He had a crazy look in his eyes, and he was grinning in triumph as he waved his Colt M1911 in my face. He was on his feet and was standing before me, who was on all fours like a crab. Terror paralyzed me as I looked him in the eye, desperately trying to make the connection from the Atsuhiko I once knew to this monster who was happy to kill me. Atsuhiko spoke, "Finally, I found you! I found you.........." he trailed on for a moment before continuing "And I will kill you!"

They say that when you are scared so much, you cannot speak, much less scream. This was more or less the case right now.

"Atsuhiko..... you won't You can't kill me, right? It's Akira." I choked out, close to tears.

The triumph glittering in his face transformed into rage. "You think I won't kill you? Think I'm weak? Is that what you think?" he thundered out, spit flying everywhere.

"No... no! I never thought that!" I screamed suddenly.

The anger apparent on Atsuhiko's face faded into a smug smile. "Well, don't think that I won't kill you." he said, grinning sadistically. "I have already killed someone...." he gestured over to something behing him.

It was the bloody, pale corpse of Akana Sasaki. Bullet holes were all over her body. The shocked, lifeless eyes of hers stared at the sky. I was so horrified I didn't make a noise. "Akana..." I choked out.

Anger filled my veins. The feeling was indescribable. I lunged for Atsuhiko, but instead of firing, he dove for the ground, rolling away on the floor. I tackled him and pinned him to the ground. We wrestled for a little bit, earning a few punches to the face and certainly one to the nose. I could feel the blood dripping down my face. I shoved my elbow down into his windpipe, and he choked. I wresteld his gun from his hand and jumped up. I backed away, pointing the gun at Atsuhiko with a mixture of anger and fear. The boy before me slowly got up, blind and pure rage spilling through his face. Without a word, he jumped for me. Without thinking, I shot him once, twice. His body fell to the floor with a loud bump. The dust settled and I was finally able to see what I had done.

A dying body was laying before me. Blood trickled down his school uniform as his heavy breaths toom a toll on his near expired body. He closed his eyes and murmured "I'm sorry..... I'm sorry. Please don't hate me. It was all my fault...." and then he went still, his breath stopping midway.
