Kassie's POV

I tore out my last drawing, trying to find a way to get back at him, but I couldn't think of anything.

He drew a million times better than me.

"You like it?" He smirked.

I scoffed and ignored him until he asked me what I drew.

"Lightning." I answered finally.

He gazed at me. "Why?"

I thought about using a comeback but I didn't want to be mean.

"I like it. When I was little, my mom taught me not to be afraid of storms by looking at the flashes. Also, at night, it's a really beautiful scene to watch."

Wolf shook his head. "Nah, fuck lightning. You never know when lightning will strike, and when it does, it hurts like hell." He stated, eyes somber.

Suddenly, he gulped like he was afraid, and started shaking.

"It what?" I asked. He didn't answer; he was mentally spaced out.

I started feeling scared.

"Wolf," I tried again, but his blank stare continued.

I recognized that was a symptom of PTSD so I decided to let him be.

People at school talk a lot, and they say he was overheard admitting to the counselor that he had it.

I sighed, trying every once in a while to snap him out of it, but he stayed like that the rest of the period.

Wolf's POV

-flashback-

two months ago

"You're hurting her!" My sister Abby cried. "Really, stop! Please - I promise you I won't come back!"

I ran inside the house to see what was going on. My sister and her newborn daughter were here...And so was a man who was hurting my niece.

"Get the hell out of my house." I growled, and the man looked at me, still shaking the sobbing baby.

Abby was being held at gunpoint by two other men.

"Where are you from?" I muttered. "Who sent you? Who fucking sent you?"

"That doesn't matter," the man spoke quietly in a gruff voice. "I was paid in BTC to do one job."

I instantly knew he was sent by my own fucking parents. They worked for the dark web; what's to say these guys aren't from there too?

Ever since they kicked out my sister, they've become obsessed with hiring people to stalk her for Bitcoin money and see to it that if she were ever back home with the purpose of helping me escape, she'd get killed.
