14. Social Media BTSVelvet AUs?

HI it's liya again. i've been busy working on eden recently so i was all holed up in my other account but i thought i would log into this account for a while to just randomly talk about a certain fanfic trope i've been seeing a lot since forever, which is the social media au. or technically non-au since most of the time it's still set in the canon idolverse.

i see these fics a lot whenever i'm lurking and tbh i've always been so tempted to write one 😭 they always seem to rack up reads really quickly compared to AU/literate fics (probably because these kind of fics can come in a LOT of chapters) and they are easy to update since they're not exactly written in literate form, so one can never worry about taking too long to update-- granted, thinking of a solid plot is what takes a while, but nevertheless, it looks like a whole lot of fun to work on!!

obv i don't think i'm gonna be writing such a fic anytime soon, since i've still got a lot of other works to manage, but i've been really interested in these kind of fics recently so i gave some thought about how i would write one if i did decide to. if i were to write a jungri/btsvelvet social media fic (preferably instagram), i'd probably try to do it with my own style somehow, which always includes one particular theme: edits. so!! i actually spent quite some time on making btsvelvet individual ig profiles just to make it seem more realistic!

i had a whole lot of fun doing this so like hope u enjoy the edits as much as i do LOL

gonna start off with my mains, yeri and kook, and then i'll move on to RV and BTS respectively according to age order. hehe. also since i wanted to be as realistic as possible most of their bios/names are written like how most existing korean idols display their respective accounts lol.

even their usernames are set as how i imagine most koreans would put it, which is most of the time UNDERSCORES or an additional last letter of their username. lol. or it could just be random gibberish like IU's dlwlrma which i still can't comprehend.

so of course we start with yeri!! hers is the first "account" i worked on so it will look a little different/lacking compared to the other accounts on here lol. also when i was making these edits i didn't actually stop to plan which timeline they'll all be "snapshotted" at, so their feeds are really all over the place (example: yeri's feed is currently in redflavor/redroom era, wendy's is in rookie era, seulgi&joy in peekaboo era, and irene's is stuck in god knows what LOL, meanwhile BTS's is left vague for everyone's benefit).  Yeri is usually rly active so I think she would actually post a lot on IG.

it took me a while to think about their follower count, but i did set yeri's as the lowest in RV (and BTSVelvet overall lol) bc as much as it pains me to say it, she's still severely underrated :-( but yes, i did edit squirtle as her icon bc how could i NOT?? it looks so cute 😭😭😭
