Something new

  I stretched as we all walked through the doors of HQ, Lauren and Wes going one way and I the other.

 "Hey." 

I looked over to see the girl Bree smile and wave me over, "whats up?" I asked while coming to a stop in front of her and Martinus.

"I just really wanted to say thank you for earlier." she smiled.

"It was no problem, glad you jumped back fast." I smirked as I crossed my arms.

"Yeah will you know what they say, get knocked down get back up and try again. We also talked with John and we are going to stay and help, so we'll probably be working together." 

"Will then just some advice, when I light up stand a good few feet behind me." I laughed.

"Trust me, we'll remember that." Martinus stated.

"Excuse me, I'm sorry to but in---"

"Wow, you stay right where you are." I glared at Sonya as she was making her way closer to us.

"What is it?" she asked looking hurt.

"I heard what you did to Clarice, you and your breath stay about 10 feet way from me. Cause I promise you, the minute I see you get closer to me I'll light you up like a damn christmas tree on fire." 

"Alex you don't understand we needed her help." she tried to explain.

"I don't care what the reasoning was, you messed with her mind. You don't do things like that, hell you didn't even ask her, let alone tell her after you did it." I growled as I walked away.

I could hear Dreamer sigh as I walked away, I walked up stairs and climbed on the roof of the building. 

 John's POV

"Hey where's Alex we might need her when we go pick up people." I asked as Sonya walked in looking upset, "whats wrong?"

"Alex found out what I did to Clarice, told me and I quote "stay about 10 feet way from me. Cause I promise you, the minute I see you get closer to me I'll light you up like a damn christmas tree on fire.""

I sighed and looked away, "alright I'll go talk to her then." I stood up and walked away from Sonya. Didn't take me long to find her on the roof, "not really suppose to be out here ya know." I smiled as she looked over at me.

"Yeah will I just needed a moment." she watched me, even more closely than she normally did.

"It's the Clarice thing." I sighed. I didn't want her to see me as someone who would do anything that was morally wrong.

"You guys didn't even tell her after Sonya played with her mind like it was a toy."

"You're right, and we should have. But at the time we really needed her." I sighed while taking a seat next to her.

"Could have asked me, I could have blinded them for a minute, could have popped their tires, hell something. How are people suppose to work together when they have to worry about Dreamer playing with their minds?" 

For a moment all I could do was chew on my bottom lip, nothing I could really say cause she was right and had the right to worry. "I'll make sure Sonya stays 10 feet away from you, but more importantly we are leaving to go pick up a group in the morning. We might need you now that they are hunting us."

"I'm always ready to go."

"Alright, we ain't leaving till noon so chill for now. And don't stay out here to long alright."

"Alright." she looked away from me and at that moment I felt my heart drop. She didn't smile at me, or make any puns.

Alex's POV

"You have seriously been out here for hours." 

I quickly looked over my shoulder to see Bree and Martinus, Bree was carrying a bowl of what smelled like mac and cheese.

"Oh um since we were looking for you anyways Kate asked us to give you this, and we seen your lover boy looked a little upset. Is everything ok?" Bree asked as she handed me the bowl while sitting down.

"I don't know." I took a bite from the mac and cheese.

"Look whatever happened think about the bigger picture, these people need you. Your like our own Thor in a female body." Martinus said while leaning up against the building.

I sighed and took another bite of mac and cheese, "trust me I am looking at the bigger picture."

"Though I have to admit, it would be great to watch you light miss prissy up." Martinus laughed.

Bree giggled next to me, "I would enjoy watching her hair stand on end."

 I looked over at the two watching them laugh as they acted out what it would be like to light Sonya up, during a time when we are at war with humans they could find something to laugh about. And that's what I why I'll continue to fight, their laughs and the smiles that have been wiped away from so many just cause they...we were a little different.
