Tré's POV
This morning he was still lying in bed. It was almost 10 a.m. I want him to be healthy at least a bit, so I prepared him a healthy breakfast. I was terrible at cooking so there were only pieces of fruit and bread. I put down the plate and sat next to him in the bed.
„Hey, wake up, sleepy boy." I rubbed his messy hair.
Billie moaned a little, still sleeping, and turned to the other side. He put his arm around my thigh and whispered.
„Uhm, Adrienne."
He got closer and still was asleep.
„C'mon, Billie!" I laughed. „Like really? Hey! Wake up your lazy ass. I prepared you something."
Billie shook in tense. He blinked his eyes and looked at me.
„What?" He seemed pretty confused. I thought, he had no idea what he's just said.
„Nevermind." I smiled. It was so funny watching him like this. „Here. I brought you a breakfast."
When he realized that he's still alive, brokenhearted sitting in his bestfriend's bed with the divorce papers on the table the depression showed up immediately. His cute confusion turned to sad, empty look.
„Oh, hey." He looked at me, finally noticing that I was there.
„Thank you, but I'm not hungry." He lay down to the pillows again.
„You have to eat something, Bill. You're so tiny." I said seriously when I saw the lines of his sunken belly.
„Look, there is only an apple and orange, I also added a piece of bread. C'mon, this will definitely cheer you up." I handed him the plate.
„I said no." He put my hand down. I gave up and took the plate away.
„May I do something for you? Say anything. I just want to be here for you."
He was looking at the ceiling for few minutes. But for me it was like a million years. His eyes were full of water and he didn't move at all. He looked like a dead body. It looked so promising last days but when I showed him the papers it knocked him down.
„Thank you for being around." He told with cracked voice.
„Sure, buddy. You're my friend. I'll never leave you." I smiled. That was a really beautiful thing to hear. But his devasteted look made me worried.
„You will." He exhaled without at least one move. „Adrienne told me, she'd never leave me too. And look. I am here. Without her. I'm alone. Everyone's leaving me."
I frowned. It actually hurt. I and Mike were always around, if he needed. Alright, Mike was gone right now, but only for vacation. He could call him anytime. And he could also call me anytime he wanted. I know that the divorce fell him apart, but hell, he wasn't alone. I am here for the lovely dumbass.
„Don't say that. Honestly, you're hurting me. I know, that you're hurt by Adrienne, but you have me and Mike. You shouldn't be saying these shit about being alone." I moved closer to him and I patted his shoulder.
„I'm so sorry, Tré." He rubbed his reddish eyes and few tears fell down. „I know I'm being ungrateful. I should thank you for all you've done for me. Sorry, Tré. I'm so fucking sorry." He started crying more and more, so I helped him sit and hugged him around his shoulders. He smelled so beautiful – so ‚Billish'. I was sure he didn't remember the last night at all.
„It's gonna be okay. I promise." I was holding him like a little baby but it helped him. After few sobs we were sitting in quiet hugging each other.
„Wh-y? Why are you helping me Tré?" He sniffed.
„I told you. You are my friend."
„Sure.. but.. you should be with Sara now. Y'know... as a family. You've been married only for few years. That's still pretty fresh. You should be enjoying a good time with her right now. But you're holding a dumb, messy wreck, who you call a friend." He was still hugging me tightly.
Yeah. Sara. That was a problem. It was probably the time to tell the truth. On the other hand, I didn't know, if I should tell my whole story to a guy who was completely ruined. I pulled myself away and looked into his eyes. I couldn't decide. But I saw his sad mouth and white, tired face, so I decide to be quiet about that.
„She understands." I clamped my lips.
„But, Tré.."
„Shut up." I pushed him closer to me and I felt his smile in my arm. Finally. At least one good thing happened this morning.
„If you wanna show me your gratitude, you'll eat your breakfast. I tried so hard." I let him sit and I grabbed the plate again.
„Tré.." he whimpered, but I know that was a good sign. When Billie says „Tré" like this, it means, that he's a little distracted. It was good cause he was not thinking about Adrienne at the moment.
„I told you to shut up, before." I grinned and stuffed his opened mouth with a piece of apple. Billie lifted a corner of his mouth and chewed the food.
„That's a good boy." I offered him another food and watched if he'll take it or if I'll have to force him again. He look unsure but when I lifted my eyebrow, he took another piece.
He finished the plate himself – thank god. After he lay to the bed again.
„No, no, no, no, Bill. Not today." I snatched off the blanket.
„We are going to the town. We ran out of groceries, soap and shampoo. And I hope you don't wanna eat your hair to solve this problem." I laughed.
„Can't you go alone? Do you need me there?" He sounded annoyed but it was also a good sign.
„I need you all the time," I said gently, „and I thought you wanted show me your gratitude."
He was looking at me for a while, but then he nodded.
„You're right."
*At the store*
„Oh man, just tell me!" I groaned with frustration.
„I don't know. We can have pizza." Billie rolled his eyes.
„Are you sure? But you're gonna eat it. Or I'm gonna kill you." I looked at him seriously but inside I burst of laught.
„Yep."
This countinued almost whole time. I always suggested something and Billie nodded distantly or wasn't listening me at all.
