Billie's POV
I woke up in an unknown bed. My whole body was aching, especially my head. I looked around. I had no idea, where I was. I wanted to stand up and explore the house, but when I tried to sit, the pain rushed through my body. I screamed. It was unexpected. I lay down and tried to put my memories together. It was a muddle.
„Are you dying?" I heard a familiar voice. Tré showed up.
„Oh my freaking God, Tré!" It was a big relief. „Where are we?"
„In my house," he noted, „you've been there pretty long time ago."
It was nice to visit one of my best friends again. But then the memory of Adrienne shutting the door came to my mind. My face frowned immediately.
„Turn the frown upside down." Tré sat in the bed next to me. The matress bounced and my body hurt more.
„Careful!" I yelled.
„Oh, come on, sissy! Do you remember anything from yesterday?"
„I don't want to talk about that." I said with tears in my eyes. It was all in front of me. I could see it. I saw Adie and the fellows in the park. I felt sick.
„Dude. You're a big boy. I think that you can tell me, what happened. I deserve it, aren't I? I do have the time to listen to you whine." He tried to cheer me up with the lyrics. It was kinda sweet. So I told him what I remembered. I told him about Adrienne, about the tavern and about the park. I started crying right at the start.
Tré's POV
„They beat you? Are you kidding? I thought you fell down when you were drunk or something. This is bad, you should visit doctor." His story scared me.
„No comments about Adrienne?" He asked me, crying.
„Billie, I feel terrible about Adrienne, but now you're in danger of your life."
„What? No, no, man, I'm alright. Look." He spread his arms. It was obvious he was still in pain.
„That's not funny, Billie. You can have internal bleeding. We have to visit the doctor. Right. Now." I packed some stuff as ID card, some money and keys.
„I'm okay." He tried to persuade me. I grasped his arm and jerked it. He shouted.
„See? That's not okay. Get your ass up, we're leaving." Normally I wasn't that bossy, but I was really worried.
Billie seemed annoyed, but he stood up slowly. I lent him some of my clothes and we left.
„Does it hurt a lot?" I asked Billie while I was driving us to the hospital. He didn't answered. He was looking from a window. He looked numb. I patted him gently with my free hand. Sometimes they argued with Adrienne, but I've never expected these two could ever divorce.
I'd been waiting in the hospital for ages. But finally Billie and a doctor came out from the office. Billie sat down wordlessly. The doctor came to me.
„Hello, you must be Mr. Wright. Mr. Armstrong agreed to share all the information about his state of health with you, because we had to give him strong painkillers."
„Yes, it's me. How is he doing?"
„He was quite lucky. He has only superficial wounds, but they are pretty numerous." The doctor gave me a serious look. „He's in pain a lot, but he's gonna be okay. Give him these pills every morning and these once a week – on Monday I'd recommend. It can cause a short-time depression but we haven't other possibility. If you came right after he got beaten, the pain wouldn't be so strong, but now some of the injuries are inflamed. He needs to rest well and also eat – the vitamins help him to recover sooner."
„Thank you, doc." I was overloaded with the pile of information.
„And mainly – keep him a company. He shouldn't be alone. As I said, the medicine causes depression and he needs to relax. If you can keep him happy at least a bit, he'll be fine soon."
I actually had not any plans, maybe a party with old buddies or composing, but yeah – I had a lot of free time so there was no problem with taking care of Billie.
