Chapter 7

"Celine................I................I have something to tell you.........."

I immediately knew something was wrong judging by the tone of his voice.

"I went to the doctors a few weeks ago because I...........I didn't feel well. He checked on me, and................he found out that I...................."

He then suddenly shed a tear.

"I have cancer..........."

My heart broke.

We've been through this the last time, and he was lucky he survived. This time.................

I'm not quite sure............

I covered my mouth with tears running down my eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me this earlier?........",I said while wiping my tears away.

"I.....................I didn't want to upset you. I know this is really hard to believe, I couldn't believe it myself too. After the first round, I thought I was never going to have cancer again. But turns out...............",he then broke down crying.

I couldn't bare seeing him this heart broken. I walked towards him and gave him a hug.

I hugged him so tightly, I didn't want to let go.

"It's okay my love, we're going to go through this again, together............", I said while rubbing his head.

He looked me in the eye and said the sweetest thing he ever said.

"Thank you Celine..................Thank you for being with me all this while. And thank you for never letting me go..........."

After hearing that, I couldn't help it but broke down in tears too.

"No, thank you..............for believing in me.........", I said while wiping his tears out of his face.

After I finished cleaning myself up and changed to my pajamas. I climbed to bed next to Rene.

He was already fast asleep.

I wrapped myself around his waist. And I whispered to myself "My Love, we are going to overcome this, I promise....................."

I awoke to noises in my room.

I opened my eyes and I saw Rene preparing for work.

I checked the clock, it was 6:30am.

"Rene, you're up this early?", I said while yawning.

"Yeah, I'm trying to find a way on how to tell the kids about my condition.............",he said while giving a sigh.

I looked at him and said "It's okay darling, we'll both talk to them. Is that alright?"

He nodded and gave me a smile.

"Now, come back to bed! It's way too early!", I said while ignoring the fact that he's already in his business suit.

"Okay okay",he said while he climbed back to bed.

At 7:30am, everybody was in the kitchen already.

The chefs had already prepared our breakfast.

As usual, Nelson and Eddy would come running to me so that I could help tie their ties. After that, both of them would give me a kiss on the cheek.

R.C would already be in his school uniform looking smart as always. And of course, being on his iPhone.

My mother would be there helping the chefs to prepare the table.

I turned to look at Rene and I could see his face covered with sweat.

I held his hand tightly and gave him a smile.

"We can do this",I said to him.

Once everybody has settled down, I immediately asked for their attention.

"Your father has a very important thing to say", I said while holding Rene's hand.

"I................I went to the doctors the other day, and he said that I wasn't in great condition. He told me that I have cancer........."

"What?! But.......but.......", R.C said with utter shock.

Nelson and Eddy couldn't quite understand the situation but they just ran to hug Rene.

But my mother.............she's trying to hold back her tears.

"Rene............",she said while walking over to him.

By then, her tears started flowing and flowing.

She hugged him so tightly and said "Please be strong for me........"

Rene nodded and said "Yes maman, I will!"
