Ch 1: ~Outset~

Steady, my sight.

Blind me

with the light of what I hope is a God

I do not believe in.

A light made of man,

and a sound made of a butterfly

ripping itself free of its prison of a cocoon,

with the sound of its majestic flight

to freedom following suit.

I stand on my feet,

shaking, wobbling,

to see the smoke of nicotine,

floating in the air in front of me..

Smells more like vinegar.

Stings my nose.

I hear a liquid drop.

A dark pomegranate red spilled across the ground

which held my feet up

and my spilling right shoulder.

A shady street of broken branches crawling across concrete,

buildings screeching in pain from their peeling skin,

lamps lighting the way blindly with their crying, painful, yellow eyes,

stars running away from fear of being caught by the youths,

and yet the night was still.

I turn.

Click.

A piece of metal painted with a metallic black,

covering the blood its spilled with its trigger,

hiding in the alleys of shadows,

glinting with the look of murder,

and going hand in hand with its owner.

I raise my hands in the air,

ignorant to the bite of metal in my shoulder,

staring blankly at the shimmering, perfect circle at its tip,

then past it to the black silhouette of a human,

a human with tight cheekbones from clenching,

a human with furrowing eyebrows, crinkling its face,

a human with eyes as brown as a slack of mud,

covering its tracks of its red chains of thoughts.

I closed my eyes to brace myself for another repeat,

A repeat of pain, anger, sorrow, confusion, frustration, and--

The sound of a shot was replaced with a beep.

A repeating beep.

I glare at my left.

I scrape my finger sloppily across my screen.

Throw it across the bed to my feet.

Cover my head with the shadows of my blanket.

I'll go to school after I die.
