Leslie's eyes widened as the officer began pulling back the jacket until a scream was heard. The officer stopped and looked out the bedroom down the hall at Janaya who accidently exposed her chest to his partner. His partner fumbled over his words as he looked around for a shirt to hand as she stood there confused and apologizing.
"Everything is okay up there" he asked his partner.
"Yeah just had a little accident, you ready"
"Yeah coast is clear" he said walking out the bedroom.
"Okay ma'am sorry to disturb you but if you hear anything from him contact us immediately"
"Okay" Janaya said holding the small baby t shirt over her breasts.
Leslie took a deep breathe, and exploded out the closet onto the floor as he heard the officers leave. For now he's safe but he knows he's a wanted man. Against Jesse's wishes he decided he must run and the only person who could help him get out of town was Prize.
"I don't know why you choose to be so damn stubborn, wait for Jesse"
"You seen the cops they're on me. While he thinks of something I'm out of here"
Janaya couldn't argue with Leslie he knew he was facing a heavy sentence if caught and charged. Leslie ran back to the window to see if the police were still parked outside, the cars were now gone. He knew he didn't have much time, after spending several minutes convincing Janaya to go back to her sisters house they gathered up their clothes and left.
He gave her one final kiss and watched her drive away in a taxi. The rain began to pour and he stood in the middle of the street watching her drenched in water. He wondered if he would ever see her again, be able to kiss her on the forehead or play with jr, reality finally hit that he was now a wanted man on the run.
He tied up his dark gray hoodie and threw his duffel bag over his shoulder continuing down the street in the opposite direction. He needed to talk to his brother but didn't want to raise no suspicion and not sure if the police already sought him out he decided to call his best friend. Chris answered the phone while looking over his book of appointments.
"Yo"
"Man where are you" Chris asked getting up from his walking around his office.
"Man I'm out here in the streets, kind of in a bit of a jam, where you at"
"I'm at the shop getting ready to close up, some detectives came looking for you"
"Damn, look it's a long story bro"
"Don't even trip homie, you don't have to explain but you need to get out of dodge real quick"
"I know that's why I'm hitting you up, I need a place to stay just for the night"
Chris paused as he was asked the question, he wanted to help him out but he had his own safety to think about plus his family.
"I don't know man"
"Please just for the night, I'll be gone before you even wake up. I just need to rest and think of my next move"
"Why don't you just turn yourself in, I mean if your innocent you can fight this"
"Its not that simple Chris, it's alot of shit you don't know, and I'll tell you the whole story but not on the phone at your house"
"Aight meet there in a hour, you can crash in the basement"
"Thanks bro you a lifesaver"
Leslie ended the call and headed to the subway, he couldn't wait for an Uber and already felt everyone was after him. It would take thirty minutes to get to Chris's house and a ten minute walk to the train just enough time to meet him there.
Detective Eric sat in his car has he heard the whole conversation, his gut told him Chris knew where Leslie was and he was right. So he stayed at the tattoo parlor parked a block away just enough to hide but get a view of who comes and goes. Now with Leslie on his way to meet Chris at his house all he had to do was wait for him to leave and follow him home taking them right to Leslie.
"So what we do now" Emily said lookibg up to Eric as he clinched his hand over the radio device.
"We sit and we wait, he'll take us to him, in the mean time call into the office and find out if they have any new evidence I dot think he was the only one involved but we will find... find out soon enough"
They watched from a far as Chris finished his book keeping and closed up shop for the night, gathering all his belongings he carried them to his car. Waiting so long Emily fell asleep in the passengers side.
"Wake up" Eric said shoving her as he started the car. He squinted his eyes to try to see pass the rain as Chris pulled out the parking alot and began on his way home. He turned on the windshield wipers and followed leaving a block in between to not be noticed. The drive lasted nearly a half hour until he realised he wasn't headed home but to a hospital. Eric watched as a woman came out in hospital scrubs and entered the vehicle.
"Who is that" Emily said studying her.
"Must be his wife, he was picking her up. They'll be headed home now"
Eric was right, the ride continued and the next destination was Chris's house, he parked the car and turned off the lights as Chris pulled into his drive way.
"Call for back up give them the location, we need men parked no more than a block away from the premises in every direction but we need unmarked cars we don't want to alert him that we're on him, he'll be here sooner than we think"
