Life is like a cookbook. There are so many choices on what to make. And every individual one has a recipe made by someone who's lived before you. There's instructions for chocolate cake, strawberry, vanilla, jelly, coconut, cotton candy, ice cream, cheese, coffee, even carrot and fruit cake. There's teeny tiny ones, extravagant ones. Plain or decorated. For every occasion from birthdays to weddings, graduations, congratulations, and all celebrations. Or just because it's yummy. Whatever the reason, there's options available. Sometimes it feels like you don't have the confidence or desire to make one of these. But there are people saying that this one is great and that one is good, amazing, delicious. But what if you don't WANT to be making ANY of those cakes? What if you decide to create; let's say something completely original. Like... a cake with meat in it. Such as a steak cake. Everyone says that idea is stupid or disgusting or weird. Some may say it's impossible or that it might take forever to figure out how to make one that's actually tasty. But you decide anyways to not be bound by anyone's rules. You practice freedom. Baking all types of mysterious "desserts". It might be more difficult than just following or listening someone else's opinion or advice, but you've come to realise it's not ABOUT them. This cake is for you and you only. YOU have to think it's wonderful. Because you want to be different. Not like everyone else who takes the easy way out. So life is like that. There are usually steps you need to take in order to become something, right? A caterpiller to pupa then a beautiful butterfly. But there are times us, as humans, want to do things our own way. Because we are stubborn creatures. After all, the best way to learn is the hard way. And who knows? We might fail a couple of times. But what matters is you worked hard to become successful. And there might be a chance that someone in the future will look up to you and either add on to your cake or create their own. Tradition is nice. It's important. But it's also boring. There is no such thing as improvement if we don't change anything. That's how airplanes were invented, religion was spread, and medicine was discovered. Even civilizations started with one crazy idea to settle down and GROW our own food. Instead of chasing it. So what I'm trying to say, in a metaphorical way is... Use your imagination. Follow your dreams. As long as you breathe it's never too late. Listen your heart. And always be yourself. As cliche as it is, it's true. Not everyone will like it. But what matters is that you like yourself. YOU'RE not fake. OR a copycat. Unless you want to become one of the others or nothing special, I think it's best to not give up without a fight and be unique. Find inspiration. Challenge limits. And you'll be irreplaceable. Just think, you could be the next person to find a cure for cancer or AIDs and Ebola. You can be the first person to live in a different planet. You can come up with a new sport or game. You can explore underwater in all 7 seas. You can end world hunger, domestic/animal abuse, rape culture, sexism, racism, albeism, or any other global controversy. And begin a justice, open hearted/minded ideal for society. You can change the world for better or worse. You can show how valuable you are by doing something incredible and unforgettable. It's all up to you, it always has, always will. So make it count, okay? Always remember and never doubt it. That you are a limited edition and you matter.
Why cakes as a example? Because why not?
